I just heard on the Browns radio station that the Cardinals are close to giving up a 2nd round pick for him, WOW

You mean giving Hoyer the 2nd round tender? Meaning any team that wants him would have to give up a 2nd round pick for him.

This must be mis-typed... he is a RFA with the Cardinals and we wouldn't have to give up anything to retain him.

Yeah, Adam Caplan tweeted that the Cardinals are considering giving him the second round tender. Which makes sense amongst rumors that Whisenhunt was telling people he wanted to bring Hoyer with him as a head coach candidate.

I have a feeling that Kevin Kolb is not going to be on this roster come March 17th.

Well, it makes sense - since he was undrafted, we would be given no compensation were he signed by another team.

2nd round tender is only $700k more so if they want to keep him it is a bit of a no brainer.

Simply ridiculous move by the Cards!!! Hoyer might be slightly better than Skelton or Lindley but not much...trash is still trash. Cut them all, except for possibly KK & draft 2 more QBs please.

I can see it now, Hoyer is the QB & our Oline "isn't as bad as they seem" according to BA which means much of the same :bang:

God help us, I'm begging you!

Hoyer looked like the only semi-capable QB on the roster after the loss of Kolb last season. This isn't a particularly large sum to see what a player with some talent can do, whether he's a backup or whatever happens. It could be an indictment of the talks with Kolb's representation, at that. We certainly won't be paying him 13 million this year.

I'd rather only draft one prospect this year so we're not stuck starting two QBs with zero experience again if the #1 goes down like in 2010.

I don't have an issue with this. QBs carry value and Hoyer seemed as capable as any QB on our roster from what I saw last year. Might as well ensure we get some value for him if someone wants to pursue him.

Our 2013 qbs could be Geno Smith, Drew Stanton and Brian Hoyer.

I think it will be:

?Rookie?, Drew Stanton, Brian Hoyer

I doubt we draft Smith in the first round. There will be other options in the 2nd or even 3rd round.

i heard ken whisehunt during the interviews he had as head coach candidate was praising him as qb and make him as a stonge canditate of qb that he would have pursued in free agency..even those who were positive about his abilities now have to change their mind

We're all making wild predictions before any of the FA's or QB's under contract have even spoken with the coaches let alone worked out for them.

If Kolb goes, I think Matt Moore is in. It's just a gut feeling, but he is the best FA out there, and there is the Bowles connection.

Keeping Hoyer with a second round tender makes all the sense in the world. If someone remotely wants him, even if we don't, perhaps we pick up a pick. The pick could be negotiated from a second.

I think it's possible that we could still get Stanton, keep Hoyer to go with Moore. It's hardly amazing. And I still believe we would consider a QB in Round 2 or 3. And if we suck due to bad quarterbacking, hello Manzell or Bridgewater.

Couldn't disagree more. There are NO QB's in the draft or FA worth anything. And it is a tender, meaning that if someone else wants him, they would have to give up a 2nd rounder.

My nightmare is that SF offers him with their slew (sp or is it slough?) of draft picks just to keep him off the Cards roster to mess with us.

And I could not be more happy if we just ended this Kolb, Lindley, Skelton disaster.

That would be the most ridiculous expenditure of a pick for a Super Bowl team ever.
