What I am thinking right now...

I am just gonna have to trust that the Suns did the right thing

If we get the 4th or 5th pick next year.... *woo :D hoo*

This years draft became totally irrelevant to us now

We are probably not going to do the T-Mac trade now

With all this money we can hopefully sign the right free agents to help our
team

I'm shocked. But, I have to think that PHX has something in place.

You don't create $16 million in cap space for the helluva it.

I haven't really commented too much about TMac... but I just didn't have a good feeling about him coming here. First of all, it's been repeatedly stated that Houston was his first choice. I don't want someone here who doesn't want to be here (or, who prefers another team over ours).

In addition, TMac has said some pretty off-the-wall crap during his short stay in the league. Heck, he was even talking of retiring and trying to play baseball.

Let's get some FA's in here who WANT to be here.

My new wish list:

Kobe, of course
Nash
Manu Ginobli
Brent Barry
Erick Dampier

I just checked my email and nothing as of this point.

EDIT: Both 910 and 1060 are confirming its a done deal

Aren't both stations affiliated with ESPN?

They probably are just basing everything off of Chad Ford's report..... I just will keep my emotions in check until we receive an official confirmation from both parties involved and the Suns motives behind the move (if indeed this all happened)....

WTF, this is ********. When are they going to stop planning for the future and actually put together a team?

Couldn't the Suns at least have waited to see who was left at #7 before agreeing to the deal? It sounds like Chicago has a wider range of players they'd be happy with.

Or at the last minute they got an illegal under-the-table committment from Kobe...so they shed more cap space. Please? Please?

*Sigh*

860 is affiliated w/ESPN.

Devil alum brought up a good point though, it could actually be easier to trade a 1st round pick next year than this year. The Bulls are a disaster, this year's draft crop sucks, and the teams involved don't have to rush the deal.

So who knows?

If we get Marvin Williams or Chris Paul next year despite being in the playoffs I will jump out of the house and do cartwheels on the street.

I don't visit here often, because my criticism of the Colangelos is often ridiculed.

This isn't about CAP space, it's about the bottom line. Has been ever since Jerry got the D'baks.

The Suns and D'baks have sweetheart stadium deals and are both losing money. Pray the Colangelos get out of Phoenix sports fast.

I love the Suns. Had season tickets for years. But the owners have sold us out. I told you this cheese, two years ago and you ripped me up. You now have the evidence.

Colangelo doesn't own the team any more....

the Chicago Bulls obviously want to draft somebody they feel will be there at #7. If they wanted player that badly they aren't going to wait until Phoenix checks out to make sure there are no players they would like with the pick. It's just doesn't happen that way.

Obviously the Suns did not think that anybody at #7 was going to help them immediately as much as the money. Frankly they could use that Chicago pick in another trade. I have no problem with this trade at all. I'm really pretty surprised that everybody is so down on it. I think it has more to do with the fact that the draft is now not as exciting as it was an hour ago.

I agree. There really isn't even a reason to listen or watch for me anymore. I'll just check the board periodically and see if anything interesting has happened.

We didn't need that space created by trading the #7 pick for TMac. So that leaves Kobe or Shaq to eat ALL the space we are creating. If we trade for Shaq, we will lose pieces like Marion and JJ. If we sighn Kobe outright, we add a top player to a team WITH JJ, Marion, and Amare. I like the last scenario better. However, like I said earlier, I wouldn't put it past the C's to take a risk on the Shaq Daddy.

Bottom line, I don't see them making this move WITHOUT some kind of plan in place! :)

Apparently Milos says he is ready to come over...

Might explain it.

Another possibility

- Suns offered Marion, Johnson, #7 like reported in the article
- Weisbrod continued to let them wait
- Suns decided to counter Weisbrod's tactics and light a fire under his ass by not hesitating to trade parts of their offer which they think is the best on the table right now
- Weisbrod soon calls them back because other teams aren't upping their offers anymore but none is nearly as good as the Suns was
- Suns trade Marion, Johnson and a future pick for TMac...

;)

Which is still too high a price. If this deal goes down, how is it better for the Suns than the deal with the #7? They have the #31 pick and a little more cash. Yippee.

I doubt that's the play. More likely, either the Magic agreed to something else besides the #7, or the Suns have ANOTHER trade or free agent scenario falling into their laps and NEED the space trading the pick affords. Besides, they may have just decided that noone at #7 will help them that much, so why sign for someone for that jack you really don't want! ;)

Thats exactly it. Folks are panicking but are forgetting that the Magic have said they aren't going to trade TMac until after the draft.

The Suns can't take the chance they are stuck with an Orlando pick if their deal falls through. They would be stuck with $2 million in salary and possibly a player they don't want (the Magic's chart could be completely different from ours). This year's draft crop sucks and the potential for the #4 pick next year in a better draft class (along with other pieces) could be enough to get Tmac.

yea he's calling the shots.....but it doesn't affect his wallet one way or another. he could blow up the salary cap or have a payroll of 10 bucks it doesn't do anything to colangelos finances. you can say colangelo doesn't know what he's doing but it has nothing to do with colangelo's financial gain/loss.

You don't piss off your fans before the NBA Christmas eve (draft) spoil the rumored trade proposals and increase the lower bowl ticket prices after a bad season like last year if you don't have something cooking....

If they don't have something cooking, Colangelo might as well flea over the mexican border asap.

He's calling the shots but he's not spending his money.

Even if your theory about JC being cheap is true why would he care about whether or not he spends Sarvers money?

The way I understand it JC gains or loses nothing no matter what the Suns do.
