Wife and I were both impressed with Stanton. Hadn't seen nor expected much from him. Throws a good back shoulder pass, and when pressured or sacked, compared to Kolb, the wife summed it up perfectly, "He ran forward, up into the pocket!" Just goes to show how bad our QBing has been.

Our running game was solid considering our line couldn't open up any holes. Most impressive is they stuck with it--we're going to see a similar pattern any time we get up on teams. Even at only 3.5 per clip we're going to pound it in there if we're up. Encouraged by that.

Any one of you can kick better than Batson.

Weakest link on the team appears to be our TE's. We've got some issues there.

It was so great seeing BA get in dude's faces as they came to the sideline, seemingly after every play. His face never wavered from that deep red shade of discontent. BA is a coach. He's not your friend; his comment on Jefferson's injury: “We came through fairly clean. D.C. Jefferson has a little bit of a hip pointer. That’s what happens when you drop big touchdowns.
I thought that was pretty funny, but it seems a little off because I don't recall him dropping a TD. There was a throw in the endzone that was just out of reach otherwise there was the big drop where he had like a 15 yard gain if he just looked the ball in instead of worrying about the tackler. Either way though it was encouraging to see a TE be able to get open quite frequently, but obviously he needs to finish it off with the catch.

I thought Taylor started slow and then picked it up. I was more impressed with him than Smith. Taylor is more of a grinder and I thought he showed some good vision between the hashes.

Really impressed with the depth on defense.
Also, Mathieu is the real deal, just a heck of an instinctual football player.

Taylor reminds me of Joseph Adai a little bit.

I caught the late replay on nfln....what jumped out at me in the first quarter was...Brinkley....dude was always near the ball...finishing tackles for others mostly,...but always in the mix.

After rewatchung this morning, our first three picks are gonna be long time starters IMO. Cooper, Minter, and Matheiu looked real good to me.

I don't agree with Shane. I liked the balance and wiggle Taylor ran with. He is likely not a star and maybe not even starter caliber but he's a pro runner and with good Oline play could be a workhorse.

The play calling was incredible. Guys down field open all day. quarterback play is finally above average and competent. You can tell guys like Stanton and Lindley have been coached up. Palmer can be at Warner level if he's protected. All his throws were spot on to me.

Biggest issues

Offense and Defense had mix ups and lining up issues like TJ said. Should get cleaned up

Kicking was awful. So was run blocking mostly.

DC what's up man catch the ball. You too Dre!

Yup. He just looks slow. All the talk about vision and wiggle just reminds me of all the WIPO talk all of last season. Same results 3.4 YPC in the end thats what matters. I desperately hope that Mendenhall gets healthy and remains the starter all year.

Depth at DB is impressive.

Might have some trade bait for a team in trouble at CB. I'm sure Keim will be working the phones!

D.C is a heck of a physical specimen. Seeing him on the sideline around the other players I was impressed with his stature. His ability to catch or even operate as a receiver, not so much. Still that was the book on him when he was drafted, very raw talent that would need some work. I don't think they will be in a hurry to replace him but he will obviously need to show improvement from last nights performance if he wants to be top 53.

TE and health at RB seem to be the biggest offensive question marks right now.

I was actually quite impressed with his ability to find ways to get open all night, but he just needs to get better at reeling those passes in.

Everyone is killing DC but we got our TE beast in Housler. I'm not sure he played last night but hell be good for 60-70 catches next year. DC is like 4th on the DC (depth chart)

It was really nice to see some competent football play tonight outside of our kickers.

If Harvard Rugland gets cut by the Lions I would like to see us bring him in. He hit from 49 and 50 tonight playing behind David Akers.

Is that Kickalicious? I think he will beat out Akers in Detroit.

I think we could have brought in a better kicker to push Feely. This guy was horrible. Batson, son of Batman? Didn't look like it last night.

Here's someone we could pick up if cut. :D

Havard Rugland, the Norwegian who had never played American football but earned a tryout in Detroit after his trick shot kicking video became an Internet sensation, had an excellent outing in his preseason debut on Friday night, connecting on both of his field goal attempts, one from 49 yards and one from 50 yards. He was mobbed by teammates on the sideline after making his first kick, and several Lions said after the game that the team enjoys the fresh perspective Rugland brings.

Sanders brought him up a few pages ago.. dude goes by Kickalicious in his youtube videos and is a sensation in Detroit... wouldn't be surprised if he beats out Akers for the job.

Meh.. Feely is fine. He missed a 53 yarder in the heavy humid wisconsin air for goodness sake. Thats a 50/50 bet at best. He was a 90% kicker last year.

Coaches will have to decide whether his dropsy problems are chronic or whether they can be coached out of him.

He was a late-round pick, so I was surprised he saw so much action; especially so early. Logically, you'd think BA and his people must see something worth building on.

If 3.4 YPC is passing a test and the the longest run was in a hole so big I could a busted 8 to 10 yards then yea. Ill have to agree to disagree with that idiotic sports writer. Name me one RB in NFL history that put up a stat line of 20 for 64 yards and was lauded for it. WOW!

I can't believe how "excited" everyone is over Taylor and his 3.4 yards per on 20 carries... He was pretty mediocre. Most against second and 3rd teamers to boot..

I'm not down on Taylor quite as much as you but I wasn't wowed either. If our Oline becomes a strong run blocking unit then Taylor will be a good fit. Well at least when it's time to burn time off the clock or in short yardage.

I'm not so sure this Oline will become good at run blocking because BA is all about the pass. With BA's mentality and the current structure of our Oline we need a home run hitter type back and that is not who Taylor is.
