Just wondering: Why isn't he still a Ram?

Coming off a knee injury and he probably hadn't come along as quickly as they were hoping. I'd imagine there has to be something going on with him, because a team as shallow at WR as STL is shouldn't be cutting talented wideouts. But hey, crazier things have certainly happened.

Considering Kolb was teammates with Avery it might be worth a serious look.

Something is up with this.

I agree in the fact that I have no idea why a team would:

A. Cut this guy

B. No one would pick him up right away.

If he's healthy, he'll bring the true burner that we currently lack. The fact that he (presumably) has chemistry from Kolb from his college days is all the better. Definitely worth a look.

I thought I read that he was doing pretty good, but didn't they draft three receivers? That can make it hard to make a team. Especially if since he's injured he can't play special teams, or play often. Don't know though.

.

Not right away so a team doesnt have to guarantee his contract before signing Week 1 because he is a veteran. Augmenting the situation is the fact that he is coming off a season ending knee injury.

You get good and bad with Avery.

Good is that he has really solid deep speed and can stretch the field.

Bad is that he is a bit of a diva, and loses concentration at times.

I think that the Cardinals are aware that they don't have a deep threat that can get behind deep coverage which allows teams to bracket Fitz without reprisal. I would imagine that either Stephen Williams or Sampson would be cut if we signed him. Stuckey seems like he would stick because we would need vet insurance due to Doucet and Avery's health issues.

If he's healthy, he'd be a good addition. He'd probably take the #4 spot from Sampson but he'd be a legit deep threat. The chemistry with Kolb could be a factor as well.

Doubt that we sign him considering his health history. Kevin Kolb would have to convince the team to do so. And if we did I would think that Stephen Williams would be the one released. DeMarco has too much upside. JMO.

To me it's good news that the Cards are making a list of wr's that they can go to, IF, one of our wideout's have to go on IR. So, far a freind of #11 and now a freind of #4, there doing there homework which to is fantastic.

I don't know if this is a factor, but how's the turf at the Edward Jones Dome? I read they moved from Field Turf to AstroTurf's new surface recently. I know all this stuff is light-years better than what used to be in the domes, but as far as knee injuries are concerned, I'm glad U of P has grass.

The main reason Avery was cut was because he asked for a trade. The Rams didn't get any takers, so they cut him since he didn't want to be on the team.

Last game showed the need for a deep threat so Fitz isnt bracket all season long. I hope they bring him in and Im willing to give up on Stephen Williams if thats what it takes.

It does seem like a good fit. What we need is the home-run threat. His downside is mitigated by other facets of our offense, IMO.

Agreed. Williams can be a good player if he develops consistency, but he hasn't done so in his opportunities so far. IMO if he hasn't done it in 2 camps, 1 full season, he likely won't.

Avery has shown flashes and paired with Fitz, Roberts, Doucet, we'd have a pretty dangerous 4 WR set. You'd have two big guys, Fitz and Doucet. One is the jump ball guy (Fitz) and the other is a YAC guy (Doucet). Then you'd have the slippery, find the soft spot in the zone guy (Roberts) and a pure burner (Avery).

Didn't the Rams lose their #1 WR Amendola Sunday? For a while anyway?

Yes Amendola is hurt with a dislocated elbow. He wants to play Sunday. Not sure if that is going to happen or not. Also not sure if he is their #1 WR. He is one of their most consistent players though.

Avery was cut before Amendola got hurt. Depending on how bad the injury is I'm guessing that the Rams would love to have Avery back right about now.

I knew that Avery was gone but had heard a report that Amendola who was their leading receiver last year had been hurt and was wondering if Avery might just end up back in St.Louis.

But according to posts in this thread it doesn't seem likely. But you never know in the NFL.
