As Darkside would say "Elvis has left the building".

Arm and arm with the Fat Lady (& Generalissimo Franco).

(Seriously - I haven't seen Kirsti Alli rise out of thin air yet, and am not throwing in the towel until official nofication comes down (if in fact it does).

I'm starting to get a gut feeling that we don't pay Kolb regardless.

Concussion concern and confidence in Skelton could make this a sunk cost decision.

yes and the reason why they didnt cut anyone after snyder and brown signings make me think that kolb is the player who is going to be cut

I think this is more likely than signing Kolb, continuing to woo Peyton, and hope to trade Kevin later if everything works out.

Could you imagine if we tried to woo Manning with our starter still on the the roster? Who would do that? :)cough: Denver :cough: Tebow)

Cutting Kolb means you could continue to woo Peyton, and if you don't get him, you have salary cap room to get a backup (or pursue Hasslebeck if Manning goes Titans) and/or sign another FA. Or you get Peyton. Really, it's a win-win that way. Outlaying $16M for Kolb instead of the $8M he's already stuck you for is the lose option, IMO.

I'm equally concerned with Kolb's concussions especially considering the amount of time it took him to recover from his most recent one. The other thing is, if we bite the bullet on Kolb this season he will be off the books next year, and we will have a lot more cap room. Besides, he is really struggling with our system. He admitted, even dropping back to pass the footwork is so much different that alone is throwing him off. Of course, equally concerning is the fact that he looks scared back there and isn't looking downfield.

This has always puzzled me and Chopper and I have had discussions about it in the past. What were the Cardinals thinking making such a huge investment in a guy who had spent 4 years in an offense reportedly totally foreign to what the Cards were running?

Again, that information is coming from the Denver Post. Has anyone in the Cardinals organization stated that as a fact? If they have I missed that. I've heard the talking heads in the national media say it and of course the Denver Post will say anything but I haven't heard anything official from Darren urban or anyone close to the Cardinals. If they have I would sure like to know about it. If they haven't I wouldn't put any stock in this article that's quoting the Denver Post.

As far as the time goes it's 4 PM Eastern time that Kolb is due his roster bonus. Most of the nation just move their clocks forward an hour I'm not sure if you guys are two hours back or if your three hours back. But the time is 4 PM Eastern time the bonuses due.

Yes. Urban has said that, Wolfley too. The League Office closes at 4 pm ET. That is 1 pm AZ Time. We have to let the League Office know that he is cut by that time or else Kolb will be on our team on Saturday, at which point he is owed $7 M.

OK thanks for the information. I still say we release him, regardless for the reasons I mentioned above.

Well, I have a theory that most people don't buy into. My theory goes back to SDS days. This organization wasn't on a level playing field due to the fact they didn't have their own stadium or the revenue that it generates and did not learn how to win within what they now have. With that revenue and in my opinion a shift from Senior to Junior having more of the control a lot has changed. I believe it's a learning curve for them to make use of what they now have at their disposal and how to win with the so-called big boys. I believe Kolb was simply a mistake generated by an overreaction to a strong need. I personally believe as they shown they will learn from this mistake and continue to get better at making their decisions with their newfound resources. Kolb was definitely a West Coast offense product and the decision was based off need. Hopefully they've learned to get a quarterback that fits their system or they're prepared to change the system for said quarterback. Of course it’s deeper than that, but no one wants to read a novel.
