Maybe because AZ had a private workout and thats what was in his bag. That's why Roberts came in after Fitz had to leave. Just not being reported because it seems everything with the Cards on this matter is hush hush.

Pulling out of the Manning sweepstakes when he hasn't told us no is ludicrous. It would be a 'cardinal' decision.

Show the world you really want Manning, and cut Kolb.

Time didn't run out because of Kolb. Time would be running out because we felt like we needed to keep Kolb for idiot reasons. Kolb isn't worth his contract period. He should be cut regardless.

I still have a feeling that we were/are the favorites. But Manning wants to go through the process, and the other teams knowing they can squeeze a competitor out by stalling, have been stalling.

The media wants more visits. The other teams want more visits. As soon as the Cards are out, suddenly the other teams will be 'in a hurry'.

Trading for Kolb was a mistake
Signing Kolb to such a contract was a mistake
Taking ourselves out of the Peyton Manning sweepstakes OURSELVES because of Kolb and his Billy Bob concussions (varsity blues) is another mistake.

We've already made two big mistakes with Kolb.
But taking ourselves out of the Manning sweepstakes and paying Kolb would be an even bigger mistake.

If the front office allows anything or anyone other than PM tell us no, then the FO deserves all the negatives reviews from fans it gets. It may even cause him to tell us no, only because of a deadline, for which we might of been told yes had we not been in the Kolb situation.

Why are we letting Koncussion Kolb weaken our team? Because we choose to and no other reason.

They should be releasing Kolb now to make sure Peyton doesn't disqualify us because of Kolb (and not because of Peyton).

If that line of reasoning is true, what makes us any different than Tenn. or Denver which have their starting qb's still in place?

Had same bag in TEN and they are reportedly scheduling a workout.

I will beyond just happy to see this all come to an end. If it were me I would release Kolb and use the $7 mil we save to sign some FA QB. I see Orton was signed as a backup by some team. Just because you pay big money, draft choices, and a good player for a QB does not guarantee he will be any good. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and move on.

My final guess is Manning goes to the Titans. That is where he went to college and owner will pay what ever Manning wants as he has very deep pockets.

The Cards have to be aware of Peyton's decision by now. We just don't know yet.

At least Kolb's bonus allows us to move forward with free agency now. It's better than holding out another week and finding out Peyton is signing somewhere else. The FO also might be more inclined to make a few moves to appease their disappointed fan-base. I suggest locking up CC to a long-term deal.

I'm starting to get a gut feeling that we don't pay Kolb regardless.

Concussion concern and confidence in Skelton could make this a sunk cost decision.

I like your feeling but think we will do the wrong thing and pay up to Kolb.

They're basing that off of someone that writes for the Denver Post. The same people that are claiming Peyton Manning wasn't impressed with Larry Fitzgerald? It may be an accurate statement but I'm certainly not taking anything credible concerning Peyton Manning when it comes from any Denver news outlet.

Would I swap Fitz for Peyton Manning. Never Never Never? Peyton is starting to P-- me off. Not because he want sign here but because of the dog and pony show he is conducting. I have been a big Peyton fan since he came into the league. Not any more. Ever who he signs with, my guess is that he has a 50/50 chance of staying healthy and having Manning type success. Often the best deals you make are the ones you do not make. The Cards may have just dodged a bullet.

Visiting three teams in a week is a dog and pony show? Not immediately signing with us is a dick move?

I think he's moved remarkably quickly. Not his fault we owe Kolb money today.

If that line of reasoning is true, what makes us any different than Tenn. or Denver which have their starting qb's still in place?

Simple, nothing about those teams positions or timelines are being effected by those starting QB's. They are saying whatever the situation, their current QB's aren't going to impact their quest for Manning. Even Tebowmania. We've got Koncussion Kolb and while we have a 'bonus' deadline to meet or not, even if we meet it, what have we assured ourselves for next season? Certainly not a franchise QB.

Only WE are saying that our current 'starting' QB is influencing our decision and timeline.

They both obviously believe Peyton Manning is superior to their current starters. We should too.

None of us have a franchise QB, and while all three know it, if Kolb is kept, in reality, only TWO really knew it. We suspect it, and made a pitch, but decided to go with the nothing chance that Kolb works out, and pay the money and withdraw from the Manning race.

For a speed up ploy early on to set the relative timeline it's ok. But at this late state, cut Kolb and don't let him screw up the competitiveness of this team in ANOTHER way, besides a roster spot and salary cap. There is no way in hell Kolb and not Manning should determine the outcome for us. But it sure is an easy way to allow our front office to make a boneheaded decision.

If we cut Kolb, we still have a shot at Manning. If we don't get Manning, we really haven't lost anything that matters to this team long term.

If we keep Koncussion Kolb, we will not have a franchise QB. We will still have Kolb, and will still have a reason to entrust a medical red flag as our field general that can't possibly start out his contract. We also won't have another shot at this or anything like it.

The possibility of Manning now is real. (and we're a finalist)
The possibility of Brees in the future is a pipe dream. (and we have no idea of interest)...and he'll cost more.
Make roster moves accordingly.

Why did the Cardinals structure Kolb's contract so that there was this bonus instead of just giving him $8 million in salary for 2012. Something Kolb's agent put in to get Kolb money without having to worry about getting cut in September or something like that?

If it were all salary there would be no deadline on Manning today. Doesn't seem like a good deal for Arizona.

100% correct!!
My sources say Denver needs to see him throw before the make their final offer and they know the deadline is 4pm est today.

Well with everybody calling him, begging him to see more teams, make more visits, and everything else, I say the pressure to extend the timeline is from outside. But once it is presented Manning has an obligation to himself to see these things through.

Other teams gain an advantage to waiting, so of course they are going to try to draw things out.

The media as well. Drumming up everything for the neverending story. It's in their best interests.

The day the cardinals are supposed to have a decision, the Broncos want to 'see him throw'.

On the flip side, when it comes to the cardinals...if he didn't work out with us, then our front office should have known people would try to 'see him work out', and have a plan ready for that (cut Kolb to add time).

They did it so they could get out of it if they needed to but he also had to protect himself. It's not manning's fault that Cards have a deadline. The fact that we were in this thing speaks volumes that this ain't your same old Cardinals.

Give me a break. Manning notwithstanding paying salary instead of the bonus gives the Cardinals all year to decide whether Kolb is the QB they want long term. Salaries aren't guaranteed but that bonus is Kolb's to keep as soon as he gets it. Good deal for Kolb not as good a deal for Arizona.

You should try to know what you are talking about before running off your mouth.

Maybe someone with better manners could give me a logical explanation.

I'm just sitting in San Fran airport with an extra 5 hrs to kill because freaking United Airlines screwed me over..... so all I have to do is sit here and wait nervously for the big news... like most of us, I have no clue what's going to go down.

Another thing to consider is that just maybe PM already knows we are going to cut KK and therfore he doesn't have to make that call to us, because our deadline doesn't really exist. Or maybe he has made that call and the Cards don't want anybody to know so they can tell KK we are not waiting any longer and you are still our guy???? I guess we wait and see!!!!

Duck I'm guessing Kolb and his agent wouldn't have agreed to a deal structured that way. If the 8 million was in salary the $$$ wouldn't be guaranteed. He could just be cut and out 8 million. JMO.
