Agreed. This team lacks talent on the offensive line (while the Niners have a very strong front 7) and we're playing with a young QB. Few coaches IMO would be winning this game.

I know I've been saying we need to draft Bowers from Clemson, but I'm starting to think we need to address the offensive line hot and heavy in the draft and free agency.

This is the #1 reason why Grimm needs to go. Our O-Line has been developed, and personnel choices have been made by Whiz and his defacto NFL brother.

And almost all of those choices have been HORRIBLE. From Big leaving, to Levi, to Wells, to Keith's development, to the insertion of Faneca over Wells.

Total, Complete, Utter, DISASTER.

I was thinking the same thing. Is there a Joe Thomas type at the top of this class?

Gabe Carimi would be the guy to look at IMO. He took over for Joe Thomas at Wisconsin and he's a beast.

A road grader with the feet to pass protect, though that's not his strong suit right now. He's a physically dominant player, nasty, feisty and I'd love to see him on this football team.

John Elway in his prime wouldn't have this team in the playoffs. Face it, we were just bad this year.

Sorry, I just disagree...strongly. The team has deficiencies, but so does the division on the whole. Better consistency at the qb position would have given us at least 3 more wins, IMO.

How do you know that Whis is making the draft picks? The front office has been business as usual IMO, no difference than before Whis got here.

And Keith is developing and was starting to play pretty well before his injury. As bad as the offensive line is, one of the problems is a dearth of young players to develop. We just haven't used enough picks on lineman over the past 4 years.

You don't think a QB completing a higher % of passes meaning more 3rd down conversions meaning more 1st downs meaning more TOP meaning less time for our crap defense to be on the field wouldn't have translated to 8 or 9 wins in THIS division? Good QB play and we have at least 3-4 more wins this year (take your pick of the following games--at Seattle, at Minn, at Carolina, home against St Louis and TB).

:biglaugh:

That's absurd. With how many games we lost due to poor QB play, we'd have probably 3 more wins this year. That's also not taking into effect that a competent QB would change how defenses played us, and may have been more than 3 wins.

Never been as psyched for the end of a season as I am for this one. Just six more minutes of this garbage and I get my Sunday afternoons back. The lockout is looking pretty tasty at this point too. You guys want to take a year off? I'm all for it. Best of luck. Maybe some of you people could use the time to consider career changes because this NFL thing just isn't working out for you. Levi Brown, I'm talking to you.

You would have taken any of those 4 over Leinart? Seriously?

I didn't say that at all.

I'd have traded Leinart when Warner was playing well. Leinart still had some value at that point. (Whis was never going to let Leinart be the QB, that much is a given...so keeping Leinart is not an option for this example)

I'd have taken Kolb (trade), McNabb, heck, even Bulger. I would not have brought in Anderson and I would not have played an UDFA before a 5th round pick.

What I won't do is pretend to know what the year would have been like with Leinart as the QB. Does about as much good as wondering how well we'd have done with Neil Lomax in his prime or Warner for one more year.

1. Do you believe that Graves does not invite the input of his coaching staff as it pertains to the types of players they want? Levi Brown was said to be hand picked by Grimm from many sources.

2. I am not sold on the development of Keith.

+1 it is also the coaching staffs responsibility to develop the players they do have. The coaching staff is hardly blameless just like the front office isn't without blame.

Agreed... a pick 6 as I type this.

Our offensive coordinator is almost as bad as our defensive coordinator.

Oh... And our QB's this year suck worse than both of them.

That was a VERY tight spiral that the Niners picked off.

His intangibles are VERY HIGH!
