The Cardinals are believed to be high on TCU LB Daryl Washington.
The Cards don't pick again until 58th overall, so they'll try to work a trade up today if they really want him. Washington had a first-round grade from some outlets. He'd fill a need in Arizona at inside 'backer next to Gerald Hayes.

I'm worried that our scouting staff has no idea what they're looking for when it comes to linebackers.

I think our scouting staff has earned the benefit of the doubt with their drafts over the last several years.

I believe that all the Washington talk and cooing you are hearing is bogus.

I don't. The Cards either seem to give accurate draft information, or nothing at all. Not smokescreen.

I dont think a team gets that giddy over one player in the media. I have never seen them do it before. Dont believe they are doing it here. We shall see after today.

This.

I'm pro-Washington, but now with reports like this coming out I doubt that it comes to fruition because this type of talk hasn't been the MO of the Cardinals.

Unfortunately, unless we do actually trade up for him, we won't know for sure. If we don't trade up and he gets selected by someone else, it doesn't mean that we didn't try.

we really havent drafted to many on the inside in the last 4-5 years

Only three since Dansby.

Daryl Blackstock, Lance Mitchell and Buster Davis. Davis and Blackstock were both 3rd round picks.

Not a ringing endorsement of the scouting dept.'s ability to identify quality ILBs.

I'm just not a fan of trading up for Washington as an ILB. Most have him listed as an OLB because of his size. Ive watched him play for 2 years here in TX & i'm worried about him getting abused in the run game.

Blackstock was an OLB.

I like Washington, some are saying "he looks like he's 225", his draft profile says 230, guess what Sean Lee is 236. Washington and Lee have similar speed and height the only difference is the durability question, Lee coming of ACL surgery. Washington will play the WILB where his coverage skills, sideline to sideline ability will help us tremendously especially with Williams in the fold. I do not however approve of having to trade up to get him, wait and see if he drops if not take Lee if he's there or fill another need. We need to keep all our picks and acquire more if possible.

First, Lee is not coming off of ACL surgery. He had surgery before this past season, and just about everyone says he played just as good as, if not better than, he did before the surgery.

Also, Lee does weigh more as you noted, but more importantly, he's built better to play ILBer. Lee looks like an ILBer by his build; Washington looks more like a WR.

I don't understand why everybody loves this guy so much...That is a Tampa 2 LB I'm looking at.

Williams fell.
Washington could.
Don't get antsy and sacrifice picks in a sickly-deep draft.
Horde 'em and get more quality!

I hope we don't trade up for Lee, he looks to me like a solid player but not going to be special. The kind of player I'd wait for to drop to me somewhere but not trade up for.

Washington!
I'll take Sapp or Kindle as well though or best player available and then get ILBs in the 3rd.

Brandon Johnson, also. He reminds me of Washington, and Whis had no use for him at all.

Been a productive backup for the Bengals, though. But they run a 4-3.
