Shaq was already expiring, is the issue. Did you honestly not expect people to bitch that we're giving away an 18/8 center just so management can pocket some change because Ben Wallace wants to retire?

i love how all of a sudden shaq is held in such high regard now... WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM SARVER!? did this REALLY suprise you?

what are you all suprised about? isnt that how salary dumps work? you get rid of something .....something HUGE for nothing. whats the problem?

Hell compared to the Suns past salary dumps this deal wasn't that bad. The Suns didn't have to give multiple 1st round picks to unload Shaq.

But the problem people have should be obvious. The Suns were bad last year the moves made thus far will make them much worse next year and they don't have the rights to their own pick. Plenty of reasons to have a problem with the move, even if you understand the reasons behind it.

and you know what sucks even more...

How much do you want to bet the #46 pick will be sold??

seriously I am soo damn close to being done with the suns... It is such a kick to the crotch of every Phoenix fan.. it is a big F-U...

I can not WAIT to here Kerr spin this one... chances are he will give one generic answer and then never address this trade again...

I am going to throw up..

Me :mulli: Sarver

I was all for keeping this team together for one last shot with a new coach and fresh attitude, but apparently that's not going to be the case.

:bang:

Now the Suns can hold out until the trade deadline to dump Amare's salary. If they're smart they'll wait until then, anyway.

Buyouts still count against the cap (and for luxury tax), but it has been rumored for a while that Wallace will accept a buyout far below his slated salary. If that's true, it's what justifies this trade.

It justifies it to Sarver... It is not good for the Team, the City, or the Fans.. It is good for one man and one man only...

All it does is save Sarver money.. and If Robert Sarver comes out and has a Press Conference tomorrow and admits:

"I made this trade because I needed money in my bank account because it is getting low, and I could not afford to pay Shaq"

Then I would say ok, it sucks, but a guy has his FAMILY to feed, can't fault him for that...

But don't insult my intligence by saying this was a move made for the Suns... it wasn't it was made for the Sarver Household, PERIOD..

The FO set a standard of desperation over the years and now they can't get anything in a trade. Kerr and/or Sarver is turning this team into the Clippers. How can they not even get low picks for a player that could help the Cavs reach the finals? SEA/OKC got a late first rounder from SAS for fricking KT.

This will be hailed as a move to help the Suns increase their flexibility for the 2010 free agent pool. And then at noon tomorrow they will change their mind and trade for Zach Randolph and TJ Ford to "win now." Would that even surprise anybody here?

Good riddance. I would rather have nothing than Shaq. He screws up team chemistry and made Amare a non-factor.

It was for the best. A clean break.

14th Pick for this years #25 and the Suns get their own pick back for next years draft.

If they're thinking wing I guess I understand, but if they do that they better have a bead on a big in free agency. They just traded Shaq for two players who won't be on the roster next year.

Chris Anderson for the bottom end of a MLE? Give him two years?

Like the KT deal, this was a money grab for Sarver. The organization probably pockets somewhere around $25 million with this deal if Wallace accepts the buyout. It's time to start accepting the fact that this team is going to be like the Grizzlies, Bucks, Clippers, etc. and make deals to save money instead of improving the product.

Well, sure. But since it's a given that Sarver wasn't going to pay $80 million for a lottery team, this is pretty much the best-case scenario. Any other massive salary dump would have been a lot more painful from a basketball standpoint.

With Shaq on the move, the Suns have obviously given up on next season. Unless they plan on running and gunning minus Shaq. Reinserting Amare as the wack center who cant guard anyone and going small may be a plan. Either way it looks like we will suck again and not win a ring (that's almost guaranteed).

My moves would be to move Amare and Nash, get our pick back. Play with Dragic at point and let him develop and lose a whole bunch of friggin games.

Once again, we're looking at this from the same direction.

Ben Wallace is expected to retire and they'll buyout Pavlovic's $1 mil and change.

That's a LOT of savings.

There will also be a LOT of savings for the soon-to-be former season ticket holders if this team continues to be blown up.

Maybe getting Shaq out of the lane will actually make Nash happier to stay here but my gut tells me the Suns will do something like trade Nash for picks and expiring deals, trade Richardson for TJ Ford, and trade Amare for younger players.

I know everyone is upset but i think this was a POSITIVE step for the front office.... Yes we should have been able to get a higher pick but this shows that the suns have likely commited to rebuilding. Any suns fan knows that the suns werent going to win the title so why not blow it up. The reason we got so little for shaq was because everyone knew that shaq was going to sign with someone other than the suns after this season.

And why is everyone so upset that we did it just to save money. If it was your money and realized the team was going nowhere wouldnt you do the same thing. This gives us the opportunity to sign young talent for the future. This is to save money for the future. Every team rebuilds at some time. Its our time.

Its twisted logic, but it sounds like what they are going to do. This regime couldn't spell "Cat" if they were spotted the "C" and "T"
