There will also be a LOT of savings for the soon-to-be former season ticket holders if this team continues to be blown up.

Maybe getting Shaq out of the lane will actually make Nash happier to stay here but my gut tells me the Suns will do something like trade Nash for picks and expiring deals, trade Richardson for TJ Ford, and trade Amare for younger players.

I'd buy season tickets if they did something like that.

The only thing I am disappointed with is that we couldn't get #30. Other than that I don't understand what everyone is so upset about.
A) We knew this was going to happen.
B) Shaq would have been long gone after this season anyways.
C) We weren't going to get a lot of value for a guy who is owed $21 million and is old.

Well, sure. But since it's a given that Sarver wasn't going to pay $80 million for a lottery team, this is pretty much the best-case scenario. Any other massive salary dump would have been a lot more painful from a basketball standpoint.
I agree but I thought they'd be able to get a least a little something out of them. Nobody with a brain was expecting a cache of talent but at least a minor prospect or the #30.

I was hoping Shaq would stay and the Suns traded big mouth no game Amare for Jefferson and a pick. Oh well, as a Suns fan I should have not expected that.

Either way it looks like we will suck again and not win a ring (that's almost guaranteed).

Wait a minute -- you think it's only now that the Suns have fallen from the ranks of the contenders? You remember that they won a grand total of one playoff game in a year and a half with O'Neal on the roster, right?

Once I typed that it didn't sound quite so bad, but I don't trust them to do this right. They have to bring in potential future stars or they might as well just let contracts run out this season.

And why is everyone so upset that we did it just to save money. If it was your money and realized the team was going nowhere wouldnt you do the same thing.

I wouldn't have bought the team if that was my agenda. Swear.

I do hope your right...and I hope the sting goes away soon...

Ultimatly Shaq was never apart of the Suns plans... but Kerr/Sarver are setting this standard that we will blink first of EVERY trade we do...

And Why doesKerr come out and PROMISE that we won't just give shaq away, and then turn around a week later and do just that...

Its just disheartening.. thats all :bang:

46th pick?? Seems like we could of least snagged their first rounder......

You missed the "And Cash" part of the trade. That is what matters with this current ownership group. Even the pick we got is non guaranteed.

On the bright side, we're only another Amare injury away from a starting front court of Louis Amundson and Robin Lopez. And I don't know who WOULDN'T pay to see that.

Yeah, chances are the Suns wouldn't have taken the #30 pick even if it was offered.

100% agree... I would much prefer this trade than keeping him a year and letting him walk. Shaqs whole persona bugs me. Yes he is one of the greats of all time but just on the court. Off the court he is nothing but problems. If the suns keep amare watch him be unbelievable next year. I wish this trade happened earlier this season.

If Sarver were cheap, he wouldn't have traded for Shaq, who actually made more than Marion.

How exactly does this trade help with rebuilding? The Suns don't own their own draft pick next year. In fact, why would Oklahoma trade it now? The Suns had to get their pick back before making this trade.

This is just terrible mismanagement on the part of the Suns.

I believe they actually saved a little bit with that trade the first year because of Banks. I'm not sure about after two years.
