What do you guys think the chances are of Stevie Baggs making the team as an outside linebacker?

Are you Stevie himself, or a friend/relative?

Either way, I'd like to see some more tape on the guy. I think I like his game, but I have yet to see him drop back into coverage.

Never seen him play. If he is a good passrusher then he won't have any problem making the team in my mind. We need a passrushing linebacker bad.

from his youtube videos im excited to see him in preseason, I will withhold full judgement until then. but my initial reaction sees him playing a role for us.

I think he makes the team even if his pre-season is spectacular. Even if he isn't a godsend for OLB he may be good depth at DE. I think for sure we have a lot of guys coming in for a "tryout" at OLB. Stevie Baggs is just one of many...

Now that I have been "realistic" for me I am really liking this guy. If his attitude is coachable and he is willing to do whatever it takes then we may have a very good player on our hands. Didn't James Harrison from the Steelers get discovered really late in age?

FWIW, the guy's attitude seems right where it should be and he does a lot of good work in the community. I love that the guys Whiz brings in always seem to be great character guys, leaders and goods locker room presences (Haggans, McFadden, Jason Wright).

his speed or lack of will be the big factor
From the videos I have seen the speed doesn't seem to be the problem. He really looks like a guy that just needs to be "molded" into an NFL body and should pay huge dividends with Lotts programs. I'm still waiting to connect with him at the same time. We keep playing phone tag with the interview but he is deffinetly willing to do it. I think were all going to end up really liking this guy as an Az Cardinal.

Not trying to start a fight but what is this based off of? He was a small school guy who is hitting his prime (28...same age that James Harrison started taking off) who seems to have mentally turned the corner as well. With only having Will Davis and Cody Brown signed for next year (and neither have proven ANYTHING) whats up with being a debby downer on this guy?

We also have Clark Haggans and Mark Washington IIRC.

Yeah you are right. But Haggans is on his way out in the next couple years and this year we will see a major drop in playing time (he will start again but be subbed in and out more frequently for younger talent needing PT). Mark Washington is brand new. He could have more of an upside than Baggs but what has Washington done to secure a spot more than Stevie Baggs has? If Shane is saying Baggs has slim to no chance of making this team than Mark Washington (who?) is in the same boat. So next year we have ONE guy who has played OLB (and started), ONE guy who played spot duty at OLB last year, and anywhere from 2-4 more spots open for Cody Brown, Mark Washington, and Stevie Baggs. Again, "slim to none" is nothing more than a laughable statement.

Now if we bring in a FA who at least has played in the NFL at OLB then yeah, his chances get slimmer. But at this point, were lucky to have a guy who in his league (and his first year giving the chance to start) was tied as the sack leader. To say he doesn't make the team at this point is asinine.

I was just pointing out that there are twice as many people at that position than you had listed. I do think there is a decent chance Baggs makes the team, however it is also far from asinine IMO to think otherwise. If every stat leader in the CFL tried to migrate to NFL most still wouldn't make it. What he did there guarantees him nothing here, and I'm sure he knows that.

So there is a decent chance you think he makes the team (which we agree on) but I'm wrong when that to say there is "slim to no" chance is asinine? At this point it is asinine. My guess is we hold 5 guys at the OLB spot (both sides). We have 5 right now and we haven't seen 3 play (or 4 even start). Slim to none is (TO ME) asinine.

And (kinda changing the subject) if we lose Los and find no adequate replacement this year, could Haggans be moved inside for the year? If so, that's one more spot open for another OLB.

Saying that a 28 year guy who went undrafted, got cut in his only TC, has never played in the NFL and was only good enough to start 1 year in the CFL has slim to no chance of making a team that was in the SB two years ago and advanced to the second round of the playoffs last year cannot be ruled asinine IMO.

You're right. There is always to sides two every tale. LoL I feel like Mitch with BSP...

I dont know. I just sometimes get a feeling about certain players and this guy just seems to have "it". Last year he went on a "humility search" he calls it. Sounds like the guy saw that nothing was going to come to him unless he really worked at it. Ended up earning the starting spot at tore it up. If the light really did go on for him this could end up a really good signing. You're right though. I'm leaning more on faith than logic but hey, its the Cardinals. For years we dreamed of a SB and now were among the top teams fighting for it. My dream is for an elite pass rusher and this guy has really caught my interest.

I'll post the interview he gave me later today.

I heard of a guy like that. Played QB in 3 Super Bowls. Only he originally made a team that hadn't won 8 games in a season in 9 years. :D

Hey, I still think/hope he'll make the team too, I am just seeing I can understand why everyone isn't as excited as you and I. Looking forward to that interview!!!!!
