No this ain't old. The Cavs are actually close to doing the trade. Clevland is debating if they should trade for Jamison or Amare. Its gonna be Hickson and Illgyskas for Amare I think.

The Cavs have already made a decision and they'll take whoever excepts that trash first and if neither the Wizards or Suns take the bait they'll try to get Murphy.

Cap Space... Over $30 million off the books for next year leaving the Suns with $19 million to shop with this summer. That is of course if Cleveland agrees to take Richardson too as has been rumored.

I should have left after the Kurt Thomas trade.

Then I REALLY should have left after the Shaq trade (didn't even get any draft picks = pathetic).

If they do this garbage then I WILL, in fact, stop being a suns fan until this ownership has moved on. Call me melodramatic I don't care, enough is enough.

Why would you take this trade if you could trade for Beasley? Surely Steve Kerr and Robert Sarver cant be this stupi... Oh nevermind.

If they can actually clear up some cap space and start to rebuild, fine. I actually kind of like Hickson. (Obviously not for Amare, but whatever.) But if they make this trade and do nothing with the freed up money, I'm out until Sarver leaves. I'll become a Thunder fan.

If they make THIS trade with all the other potential teams out there, I'm done until Sarver is gone. I already care more about football as it is, and I have UA to fill my basketball jones when needed.

What a joke he has turned one of the best run franchises in the NBA into.

+1. CLE is licking their chops, they know we'll buy-out Z and they will bring him back. If anything I would ask for Varejao, Hickson and 2 first rounders. At least this haul gives us some building blocks for the future. But again, MIA is my preferred trade partner but now I think Riley is going to low ball and wait for Sarver to blink. What I think is going to happen is that Amare is not going to be dealt and will pick up his $17.7M option because no one is going to give him that much if he opts out.

Hickson and the 30th pick in the draft?

That would be better than Amare walking for nothing but there has to be a better deal than that out there. Cap space is of absolutely no use to the Suns.

Of course....

Amare $16,378,325

minus

Ilgauskis $11,500,000
Hickson $1,500,000

equals about $3 million + tax money in Sarver's pocket. And if they can buy out Ilgauskis for say another million in savings...

Something like this would probably be pretty hard for Sarver to pass up.

The only way that I would even consider this is if Richardson is included for a resigned Wally. That would give us money THIS offseason to be flexible. I still don't like the trade but I could at least it would be a 10% basketball decision and 90% financial, as opposed to 100% financial.

The Cavaliers have reportedly put acquiring Antawn Jamison and Troy Murphy on hold as the team targets Amare Stoudemire.
The Cavs could send a package including Wally Szczerbiak, the expiring contract of Zydrunas Ilgauskas and possibly J.J. Hickson. Nothing is set in stone at this point, and Amare's name is still linked with several possible teams. But it does appear the Cavaliers are very serious in their interest.

I'm sick of hearing how much money Sarver saves with each trade scenario. They, Sarver/Kerr have turned basketball talk here into"What deal will line save Sarver the most money?" If that has become the number one goal, I'm out as a fan. Sell the Phoenix Sarvers before you strip it piece by piece until Nash retires. My family has owned season tickets since 1976. Amare is an exciting player to watch play, if you dump him for essentially cash, you can kiss a family of 34 consecutive years of season ticket holding fans goodbye. And you get the Kid Rock salute. ,l,,

Yes, I agree. Throw in J-Rich and I pull the trigger then land a big FA this summer. We'd be trading Amare for a max guy this offseason plus Hickson. Might hurt right now but this team's not going anywhere anyways.

This seems a lot better.

Reports are some combination of youngsters in Michael Beasley and Dorell Wright along with the expiring contracts of Quentin Richardson and Jermaine O'Neal, as well also a first-round pick in this year's draft have been discussed in a swap for Stoudemire.

Who do you plan on signing? When teams miss out on the A list FA there will be a bidding war for the best of the rest. Considering there will be a new CBA in 2011 I'd be real worried about signing big money to a non-franchise player.

The Cleveland trade scenario hurts because Hickson could/should have been included in the Shaq trade last year! Its a slap in the face if they go down that path!

At least the Miami deal is an attempt at value for value while still becoming financially better off but also giving the team a foreseeable future with solid building blocks. You've got Beasley, who's better than Hickson, and you've got a higher no 1 pick on the table. Its seems way too logical for Kerr and Sarver, thus they probably won't do it. :bang:

PS Jared Dudley has started a don't trade Amare campaign on his twitter. lol.

Exactly! No reason other than saving some money for the 2010/11 season in clearing JRich contract along with Amare's, without getting talents back.
