meanwhile, his team still had better records than the trash McD concocted during the same time period.
That is true, but he was truly competing some of those years and we were tanking for two years in a row.meanwhile, his team still had better records than the trash McD concocted during the same time period.
I contend that we may not have been able to give him an offer he couldn't refuse. Maybe after the interview was over he simply didn't want the job.Could be any of it....could be all of it. He didn't give him an offer he couldn't refuse.
This Bud is not for you.
Or there is another job he wants more. Like Milwuakee or San Antonio.I contend that we may not have been able to give him an offer he couldn't refuse. Maybe after the interview was over he simply didn't want the job.

If he goes to Milwaukee it will really suck because of that pick.
I dont buy that Bud turned down the Suns because of personnel decisions. I think this is more likely. Ive also heard he would have interest in the Clippers job, as that roster is ready made for him. Not to mention a quality front office and Jerry West in the organization to help send talent his way. Plus... a great shot at Kawhi.

Why? Another interview cannot hurt him while he waits for the job he really wants. Besides, having the Knicks after you give you salary bargaining power.Him interviewing with the Knicks blows up the above theory.
He had no intentions of pushing for a playoff spot this year. His timeline was clearly 2019 by his public statement. When Sarver started talking about a .500 year in preseason, McD publicly tempered those remarks and talked about developing young players. I think he was planning on trading Bledsoe this year after he put up some decent numbers, but Bledsoe blew it all up early.No. We’ve been over this a thousand times. The tank was FORCED upon him during this year when the team he put together blew up in his face and Bledsoe demanded out. If he was truly planning on tanking this year, Bledsoe would have been shipped off during the offseason when he actually had value.
And two years ago, he didn’t start tanking until the last 15 games of the season after he realized another team he put together was atrocious.

Not buying it. I would be freaking shocked if Bud took the Knicks job. Zinger is the only thing that makes it appealing. However, I suppose if he was potentially willing to work for Sarver, he might consider working for Dolan.
Dont see it happening.
Maybe he just flat out prefers coaching on the world's biggest stage.Bud interviewing with the Knicks may simply means he wants more money and control than the Suns were willing to give.

I have read there is a possibility Porzingis might not play next season.
From Dolan. I wouldnt trust a word that guy says. Which is why I have a hard time believing Bud takes that job.
I get the feeling that Dolan and Sarver have a lot in common as far as being meddlesome owners. From Dolan. I wouldnt trust a word that guy says. Which is why I have a hard time believing Bud takes that job.
so, you think it's smoke... for what reason? He's already bailed on our job. think he's using NY for leverage against... the bucks? If that's what he was doing, why not keep us on the hook, as well?
I just find it hard to believe he is holding out for a dual president of BBall ops/GM and coaching role, when everyone in the league knows that is recipe for disaster... Except owners and the coaches who want to tack on $$$ to their deal by asking for it.
The Hawks ownership makes it known they arent paying Milsap, and Horford is out of their price range. They want to reset the franchise and rebuild. Bud obviously doesnt want that; he wants to win. He says fine, you want to rebuild, ill step down and keep coaching this season. However, I want out come April. Meanwhile, Bud's second GM is about to get fired (Ferry, Wilcox), and the Hawks have their eye on Schlenk to rebuild the franchise.
Bud continues to try to win games with no talent on the roster. Once end of the season is in sight, the ownership wants to tank hard in order to gain ground via lottery standings. Yet, Bud pulls a few upsets down the stretch. Woj releases that report the other week that one owner chastised his coach for winning games late instead of tanking. Research shows the Hawks are the likely team.
Now, I could be wrong on Bud wanting more power. However, to me, I think he wants stable owners who are going to allow he and the GM to work on the same page. An additional requirement is the GM's job isnt in jeopardy a year after Bud takes the coaching gig.
We also have heard that the Suns (allegedly) didnt want word to get out about the Bud meeting. True or not, it does seem to align with a few things. Bud comes out to meet for 2 days. The Suns have other interviews scheduled. After said two days, he pulls his name...
Something isnt adding up here, and everyone's guess would be Sarver, right? That would be mine too. I cant see Bud saying he wants to take power away from McD, all the while meeting with them for two days. But, I could be wrong.
Regarding the Knicks? I think its a way to keep his name hot. He doesnt want to go back to Atlanta, and he knows a team is going to have to trade for him. The Knicks are a mess. They are freaking interviewing Kenny Smith today. I mean... Yikes. The Knicks, much like the Suns, have interviews scheduled next week as well (Knicks going to Europe to meet Blatt).
Does Bud prefer the Bucks job? Not sure, but who wouldnt? Perhaps his interest in the Suns was real, but things just didnt align with what he was looking for. Again, it could be power, but that seems an odd play to me for the reasons above.
Im sure if the Knicks offered $10 mil per and president of Bball ops, he wouldnt turn it down. Who would? But, I do think this is a way to keep his name hot. Like I said earlier, I have heard he has serious interest in the Clippers. Perhaps he is hoping that job comes open, just like the Bucks will. He now has two serious options.
Of course, I could have just wasted my time writing this, and im 100% wrong. However, from what I know about Bud, I would think at least a good portion is close to the thought process.

This is what I focus on as well. He pulled his name from consideration after two days of meeting by with them. That’s not just killing time waiting for the bucks or clips jobs to open up. Imo that reeks of something going awry in the process from the suns side. Could be wrong. After Bud spending two days with the Suns doesn't sound like he was using the Suns as leverage. I can see Bud using the Knicks as leverage though.
The part that bothers me about the Suns, why pull his name out of the running? Something happened for him to withdraw his name from consideration.
Maybe the Suns gave him their best offer and he walked away.
