According to Coro, regardless of whether the Warriors deal goes through, the Suns are unlikely to move Wallace for Chandler. Not because the Hornets are not interested, but because the Suns would rather buyout Wallace themselves and save the money rather than improve the center position.

It does not appear that a Ben Wallace-for-Tyson Chandler deal will come off for the Suns.

The Suns can save millions by working out a buyout with Wallace while acquiring Chandler would add another year of salary.

However, acquiring Andris Biedrins in the potential deal with the Warriors also would lessen the chances.

Further proof that ownership is just not committed to winning a championship. Not that TC would put us over the top, but the only rationale for this move is to save money. It would undoubtadly make us a better basketball team.

Sarver asserting himself as the league's leading miser. That was a big F-U to the up-and-coming cheapskate George Shinn.

dude WTF are they thinking?
If we don't do the Warriors trade then we don't have a proper center (yes, Lopez is not ready). Then Amare would need to play Center again, which he absolutely hates...
If we get Biedrins...then we need a proper PF, not just some undersized Matt Barnes or GHill...unless they want to play Earl Clark as starting PF? :bang:

Actually, this is fine if they are trading Amare for the younger GS guys like Biedrins. They can use the dollars from a second year of Chandler's deal toward free agent money next summer/resigning their own players. They will have to pick up a cheaper vet to play PF from somewhere later this summer in this scenario.

This is only madness if they are keeping Amare.

Who cares really?

What's the motive to do this if you are New Orleans? If he is healthy, he is probably worth more than the expiring contract. If he's not, then we don't want him anyway.

lets face facts here. sarver has made some upbelieveable bad chooses since taking over the suns, but if it was a fact that he was just cheap then there is no way that the suns would have had one of the highest payrolls in the nba.

I gotta agree with this (and I'm not sure how I feel about Sarver).

He's not pure cheap like a Donald Sterling. That's proven at this point. He's just been dumb at the 'rules' of owning a model NBA franchise.

Just like Kerr is not a stupid man, just woefully inexperienced at the game of being a pro sports GM for a good team.

The question for both is if they have learned anything from their screw-ups the last few years.

Jerry and BC made their share of dumb moves. They clearly learned from them, though.

Here's to hoping the best for Sarver n Kerr, cause they are in charge at a critical time for a beloved franchise.

Bottom Line:

The Suns traded a HOF, current 3rd Team All-NBA Center for a second round pick in 2010 (50+ range).

That is depressing.

Well, part of the reason why we have one of the highest payrolls is because Sarver did not want to pay rookies who wouldn't contribute for several years so we started selling picks and wasting picks on unloading contracts. These players would still be on rookie contracts now and help keep our roster balanced and payroll relatively average. But when you stock your roster with veterans, your payroll is bound to be high since these players command greater salaries. Had we kept those draft picks as opposed to trying to save money then, our payroll would have been lower now.

The Suns traded a HOF, current 3rd Team All-NBA Center for a second round pick in 2010 (50+ range).
Also, if you take into account the fact that we sold our second second-round pick to the Cavs yesterday, then in essence we haven't gotten anything in return since those picks effectively cancel out.

Coro gives absolutely nothing but speculation and people treat it as fact. I remember a few years ago on this board people were calling for Bryan C's head, wanting him fired... blah blah cry cry. Only the faces change.

The strangest thing about this whole last few days is not one mention of Gambo. Not one.

Here is the deal... If the suns pull off the Amare trade as orgnally reported; Biedrins, Curry, Belleneli, Wright... Then its cool, we don't really NEED Chandler although it would have been nice...

if the trade doesn't go through... Not doing this deal will be INFURRIATING, AND PROOF that Sarver has no concern for the team, only the bottom line...

So, for me it is that simple...

Who is going to be our defensive anchor if this deal goes down? If we don't go for Chandler you better hope Wallace decides to stay and we play him at center because Beanie Baby doesn't cut it.

I agree with you to a point... Although in our style Biedrins does make a good C, its just what are we going to do a PF.. Wright has some potential, and the guy is only 22, but I agree we will need another option dow low...

And though I know this has been discussed before, but I am not sure a Chandler/Biedrins front line is REALLY what the suns want....

All in all if the Amare trade doesn't go through I will be SO PISSED, if we let this trade pass us by as well, because all signs point to N.O.'s being game, now the ball is in the Suns court..

Not suggesting that. If you get Chandler you have to trade Biedrins. Beidrins is horrible defensively.

blah blah blah.

Nice reply.

Sarver and Kerr have made questionable decisions, clearly. Now they need to correct those mistakes and get back under the cap a bit. Can you honestly tell me that you'd be willing to pay the LT, or have one of the highest payrolls in the league, with the roster the Suns have? I have absolutely no problem with Sarver shedding a bit of the bloat in order to get younger and more athletic. Sure the Suns may win fewer games, but at least they're doing something. Not hanging on for another chance at the 8 seed.

I'm as mad as anyone at the stupid decisions they've made, and what they've had to do to get out of those decisions. (Thomas + picks, Shaq for trash, etc.) But I'm willing to wait and see where this team is in 2-3 years.

I'll keep saying this. Sarver is not cheap. He just seems to make rash, idiotic decisions.

I am guessing that the team will not seriously inquire about Chandler until they get the Amare situation figured out. You just don't have Biedrins and Chandler together.
