No way this team is anywhere near the bottom 5. They had won 4 of 6, and the 2 lost games they blew against was and por, before sarver got smart and sat bledsoe

Bledsoe, booker (expect to take another step this season), warren, an improving chriss is a solid starting group.

Ulis and williams developed a great chemistry off the bench, add to them jackson and improving bender, a solid second unit as well.

That's a late lottery team, there are much worse teams that will be near the bottom 5.

We might have to keep this thread handy in case things go south cuz I'm not starting a tanking thread. Been there done that.

We were all counting on at least top three pick last season but you are forgiven.

You got lucky when the Suns drafted Josh Jackson at #4 but he better be good. :D

Did I miss something, was Bledsoe traded? That's why I wouldn't mind a Bledsoe trade for even more youth and picks. Then roll out the young guys and have them do their best. We will naturally have a bad record and high lottery pick. Bledsoe is the only one I think that could bump up our record into a lower lottery pick.

Bledsoe has been a pro. Get him to a contender where he can thrive.

Ugh. Fair enough. I don't think of Bledsoe as a "veteran" although he clearly is. I should have said "older veterans" or something of the sort. I was thinking of the "over 30" players, which, at this point would be Chandler and Dudley (did I miss someone?).

Yeah he better be good considering I wanted to throw in an extra pick to get him. :Dold Although Fox would have been almost equally cool.

I don't think we'll compete for a playoff spot but we'll be better than last year. Maybe trade Bledsoe at the deadline and tank to get into the bottom dwellers. Depends on how it goes. There are so many unknowns. How good will Chriss and Bender be? Jackson? Will Ulis or Warren/Jackson be sixth man contenders? Injuries? The goal when starting out should be to make the playoffs.

This is my general take. Let's see how the Suns improve because there are a variety of factors to watch. The goal should be the playoffs unless we are pipe dreaming then maybe pull the plug by trade deadline.

I didn't know you were willing to give an extra pick to get Jackson. Wow. You are a believer.

However, I think all the top five picks will be good so I think you are safe. I was a proponent of letting the draft come to the Suns. Of course, Jackson not working out for the Celtics helped.

My scouting credibility (which is already poor) is going to take a hit if Fox does not turn into a top PG like I think he can.

I know it would have been overpaying but I thought Jackson would be a difference maker in all the right ways for the Suns. Plus we were approaching maximum capacity in developing draft picks so I thought we could let one go.

Your thinking is on target especially if Jackson turns out to be a top player. If a team thinks they can move up to draft a elite player, you do it.

Another thing to think about, the Suns may regret not moving up to draft Lonzo Ball if he is as good as many think. He might have been available for the right trade.

I don't think we should tank but if we're towards the bottom of the league, like we should be, around January 1st then I'd like to see us get a jump on the trade deadline, move veterans like Chandler & Bledsoe ASAP. Hopefully get picks or players on their rookie contracts in return. We'll need another PG if we trade Bledsoe since Knight is injured.

We already have 2 picks this season, ours and Miami's, one should be at the top of the lottery and the other in the teens somewhere. That might be enough to move us up a spot or two if we tried to make a move during the draft. I'd like to see us cash in on our assets to get the best possible positioning in this draft and then we can forget the idea of tanking for years to come. We need a solid Center and this draft should provide that. We also need a quality young PG, we have Ulis but I'm not sure if he's capable of being a solid starter for years to come.

This is more how I view it.

Does that mean we're encouraging tanking before the season has even started? Not necessarily. Let's see how it goes. Perhaps the Suns exceed all expectations, and come March, somehow find themselves in contention for the eight seed in the mercilessly loaded Western Conference. That's unlikely, but then again, nobody would've predicted that 48-win season back in 2013-14, when Goran Dragic and Jeff Hornacek nearly took the afterthought Suns to the playoffs

I caught that. There is something for everyone in this article. Hey if the suns want to play well no one is going to stop them. If they are playing .500 ball I wouldn't advocate a tank but if they win one and lose three then that's a different story.

I will be checking to see if you are on the court deflating Suns basketballs. :p
