I believe yesterday's blowout 48 point loss to the Blazers is the first shot in what I'm calling a "supertank". It's a warning to the rest of the league like "We'll lose by fifty on our home court dawg...don't even try to out tank us". I think it's brilliant! The other team was missing their second leading scorer and that didn't intimidate the suns for a second...they went for broke...and succeeded....and failed. It was beautiful.

If you for one second think that the Suns intentionally lost their first game of their 50th season as some sort of anti-statement to the league, you are insane. Even sarcastically, it reeks of an undeserved, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

Ironically, you want to intentionally lose and it looks like they don't have to intentionally lose--so it's more like "I told you so" from the rest of us to you!

That is the downside of being out of the post-season for so long and now tanking season after season.

It is not easy for fans to continue to give their hearts to a team whose plan is to lose as long as it takes.

A skilled Ownership, Front Office and Coaching staff should have a more professional well-rounded approach.

Until then, they're losers, damnit! They owe it to the fans and the community to be competitive while rebuilding.

Obviously, being out of the playoffs for 5+ years has led to worse results, not better. To a team that is not entertaining.

Highlighted by their 50th anniversary marketing, which calls even more attention to their ineptitude.

Picture how the players feel it -- every practice, every game. They live it more than we do.

The Suns "plan" left an important ingredient out of the equation. Pride!

You guys can cry the blues and whine until the cows come home. We have a team full of twenty year olds and a inexperienced coach and owner...plus the west is loaded. You should have had some inkling this could happen. If there were a perfect time to tank it's now so I'm good with this.

I'm still more hyped than two seasons ago...by far. Booker emerged last season and now we have Jackson plus maybe we can add another cornerstone piece this next draft. Also we have two Miami picks on the way.

So in the meantime...here is a little music to soothe your shattered nerves...

I'd rather see Pokerface talk about tanking than some of the overdone Sarver bashing some do or the praising of Colangelo out of nowhere.

Who would have thought a decade ago that an NBA fan would be joking (???) about a Tanker Game Ball. :)

This a tanking thread. When the suns lose we like it...this is a good time thread for us. Plus we don't explain ourselves. Your speech falls on deaf ears. You, Chaplin, and MS need to start your own thread called "Complainers that hate the draft"...and vacate over to it.

Not a bad start. Suns 0-2. Heat 0-1. Brooklyn 1-1.

The usual suspects are hanging at the bottom..NY, Philly, Pelicans, Mavs...plus Chicago this time around.

I think LA and Philly will climb..I don't think they'll be a problem for us.

I don't know, guys, keeping Watson at the helm is semi--tanking and if the incoming draft class is as good as you seem to think, it's no time for half measures. The problem is that we have enough talent on the team that they could play well in spite of Earl - the players will not be tanking in any circumstance. Without Brandon Knight we only have only Len as a sure fire tanking piece - and its possible the light will come on for him at long last.

Its a different topic but for Len's own sake I hope he jumps to Europe or China - for whatever reason he is declining here so he needs a fresh start. I'm a bit surprised he didn't get some kind of an offer but I suppose every team figured if they offered what he was worth the Suns would match, so why bother.

This post was back in August but its good enough to bring back. I like the part about Watson semi-tanking us and love the part about no "half measures".

Ouchie entitled this thread, "Dare I say the "T" word . . . ?", which ends in a question mark. Even if it didn't, every thread discusses the pro's and con's of an issue.

Are you really mandating that anyone with an opposing opinion to the subject of a thread, or any post to it, should start a new thread in order to respond (and disagree), post by post.

Nah, I know you know better than that. And I know you know better than dictating what responses are allowable to a particular point of view. Perhaps if you didn't keep repeating the same point over and over, we wouldn't be tempted to
respond.

Surely you recognize that watching our Suns define themselves as lovable losers season after season is not a "good time" for 2 1/2 hours in front of the TV or paying to attend a game, pay for parking, etc. Especially when the Suns start the season with the worst defeat in our 50 season history.

I tried to open my mind to the concept of tanking toward the end of last season and posted so. But I think the only plan the Suns have under the current regime is to to buy time. Season after season. Having spent over thirty-five years in upper middle management, that, to me, is lazy (or unskilled) management and Suns fans deserve better.

I'm fine with tanking but that's not what the Suns are doing, they're just awful and it's not enjoyable to watch. Tanking is something that should be reserved for the 2nd half of the season. We really shouldn't be excited to see this team get steamrolled over and over in their first 3-4 games of the years. Our young players aren't playing well, our coaching sucks, our ball movement is awful, and our defense is atrocious. This isn't tanking by choice, even if you try to view it that way it doesn't make it correct. I'm neither pro-tank or anti-tank but this is just embarrassing basketball.
