Got a job were he is not allowed to smoke pot.
He smoked pot, got caught, and now is punished.
There is no justification for his judgement and actions. I can care less he smokes pot, I do care that he cannot put is aside for 10 years while he earns millions of dollars.
As for smoking pot ? When he retires he can smoke all the pot he wants without repercussion.
Thus the dumb decision is to do so when, and at a time it will effect this job, his teammates, and his earning potential.
The fact he smokes pot ? I could care less. If that is something he likes to do, I am not going to judge the guy. It is a harmless act, if he partakes responsibly, IMO. And personally anyone who thinks differently should be ready to defend there own vices that are "harmful to themselves and others". Yet, I digress....... that is a pure P&R topic and should be discussed there where it would be more appropriate.
Again, could care less of what he wants to do on his time. Yet, the problem is that he is NOT on his time, EVER. When you are an NFL player, it is 24/7, 365, and they are paid extremely well for that sacrifice.
So, Daryl needs to put the pot away for another 5 to 7 years, and concentrate on his job. It ain't worth it to not wait, just ask Ricky Williams.
