except for the fact this will be the 3rd time, he didnt learn anything or take responsibility the first two times??? Sounds like image control to me.

a lot of times it takes an actual punishment before people say "hey. I should probably not do that anymore"

The problem is, ignorant people who dont know anbything about weed except for the PBS commercials they saw in 1984 telling them weed causes you to have psychosis, believe that weed has the same effect as booze.

People who are high and drive are typically the best drivers on the road because they dont want to be pulled over (thats the other thing. People who are high know they are high. They dont lose control of themselves and "black out". They are 100% fully functioning. They just got the munchies). Secondly, theres not many people who do smoke and drive because they dont even want to risk getting pulled over. Again, people who smoke know they are high and are 100% in control of their mind and body.

I want what he's smoking^^^^ :D

uh... no kidding. That was the entire point of my response, it was even quoted in my post "I don't see why it's not legal". Besides, it IS legal right here in AZ with a card. You think they'd rescind his suspension if he got a card? What if he had proof that he smoked it while in CO?

The same reason why if I went to Denver and blazed up then got piss tested at work. I'd be fired because it's against company policy to smoke weed. If D-Wash doesn't like the rules he can get a job elsewhere.

(Might as well acknowledge all the old people on this forum will think im a pot head for saying this) I dont smoke, but Ridiculous doesnt begin to describe how weed is still a drug in this day and age. Being illegal I mean. How many people have ever OD'd on weed? none. How many have ever smoked for 3 hours straight, and went home and beat their wife or kids? None. Caused a car accident? Besides maybe a fender bender - not many.

Moral of the story, weed is probably the least harmless of any substance on earth. Cigarettes, Coffee, Booze and sugar will forever destroy society before weed does.
Do you have statistics to back all of this up? If not, you're just flinging poo. This kind of throws a monkey wrench into your driving analogy: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/health/story/health/story/2012-02-09/Marijuana-users-twice-as-likely-to-cause-car-crash/53031202/1

ANTON — A maintenance man quietly detailed in court how he lured a 7-year-old girl into a vacant apartment, molested her, beat and stabbed her to death and stuffed her body into a trash bin.

The admission Tuesday as the girl's family sobbed in the front row brought an unusually rapid conclusion to a murder case that frightened a North Georgia community just over a month ago.

Jorelys Rivera disappeared when she left the complex's playground to head to her apartment to get sodas for her friends. Speaking softly and with little emotion, 20-year-old Ryan Brunn, a former Dahlonega resident, told a judge he used her lost roller skate to coax her into the unit in the complex where he had worked for about a month and forced her to undress in a bathtub.

"I didn't want her to go home and tell her mom or dad on me," Brunn said. "So I cut her." Brunn had moved to Canton from Dahlonega just a month before Rivera's death.

Former neighbors had described Brunn as having a troubling past in which police were called to the family's home on several occasions. They also said they had notified police of incidents involving including marijuana use and domestic violence.

Stout, I respect your opinion and rarely disagree with what you have to say. No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. You nor I will ever understand the choices a man like Washington have to make. I try not to pass judgement, but find it almost impossible in today's day and age where the agent owns the player.

I will say this, I respect the man so much more for admitting his mistake and moving on as opposed to hiding behind his agent, player's union, and the courts to save face. He did something wrong and is owning it.

He's only owning it because he got suspended. But from what I'm reading, getting suspended means that this is his third offense. The first time is a mistake. The 2nd and 3rd is a choice. This is a harsh reality scant few like to admit these days. Every time someone messes up, all I hear is "they made a mistake". Losing my car keys is a mistake. Missing the toilet when taking a leak is a mistake. Smoking or taking something that is not only illegal in most states but is certainly illegal per league policy is not a mistake, it's a poor choice and don't say everybody does it. I'm not going to say that I'm a complete angel but I do not do things that could cost me my job. I went to a concert last year and some idiots near me were smoking weed prompting me to walk away. Moral is, don't put yourself in the position to do something stupid. DWash is a grown man who should know better.

Except he made at least three mistakes, and he certainly didn't admit to the first two or learn from them either. He did something wrong three times, and is owning it once, only because he was suspended and the general public now knows about it. He gets ZERO credit from me for saying what he had no choice but to say.

Yep.

Didnt see this coming. DWash is literally the last guy on this team id expect to get into trouble.

Id see Feely slinging rocks on van buren before I ever thought DWash would get busted for anything ever.

Got a job were he is not allowed to smoke pot.

He smoked pot, got caught, and now is punished.

There is no justification for his judgement and actions. I can care less he smokes pot, I do care that he cannot put is aside for 10 years while he earns millions of dollars.

As for smoking pot ? When he retires he can smoke all the pot he wants without repercussion.

Thus the dumb decision is to do so when, and at a time it will effect this job, his teammates, and his earning potential.

The fact he smokes pot ? I could care less. If that is something he likes to do, I am not going to judge the guy. It is a harmless act, if he partakes responsibly, IMO. And personally anyone who thinks differently should be ready to defend there own vices that are "harmful to themselves and others". Yet, I digress....... that is a pure P&R topic and should be discussed there where it would be more appropriate.

Again, could care less of what he wants to do on his time. Yet, the problem is that he is NOT on his time, EVER. When you are an NFL player, it is 24/7, 365, and they are paid extremely well for that sacrifice.

So, Daryl needs to put the pot away for another 5 to 7 years, and concentrate on his job. It ain't worth it to not wait, just ask Ricky Williams.

prison population says otherwise

I get your point, but that's got nothing to do with it

And that is a P&R topic as well.

Totally agree, Washington is a fool for not taking his multi-million dollar job more seriously.

NJ contact high or being near weed will not show in a drug test. Just thought you should know so next time you don't have to leave a concert.

******* :mulli:

Bring back my boy Los ASAP

Beat me to it Bucky. Problem is these guys especially the single ones have way too much time on their hands during the off season. They should write something into their contracts that they need to be involved in community service for so many hours a year especially during the off season so they don't have so much idle time on their hands. When they are making as much as they do the can afford to give back to the community in more ways than one.

No way to put a positive spin on this fiasco. I'd like to think that it wouldn't have happened under the new regime, but who knows.

To state the obvious: this leaves a gapping hole in the defense.

Best drivers? 100% fully functioning?

I say bull. It is still impaired driving.

It is, some can handle it fine. The degree of high is what matters. Its like 1 beer vs a 12 pack.

Hey, don't argue with Mr. Know It All. He did forget to mention that pot reduces your response time. So if you need to hit the brakes pretty quick to avoid that kid that just ran in the street.
lol you saw that anti pot commercial one too many times

The 2nd one, "history of mj and domestic violence" hes a piece of **** who happens to smoke pot, lets not link the pot to his psychosis.

as far as twice as likely, I say bull. Teenagers are more dangerous than stoners. People are poopy drivers and if you get a poopy driver high they will drive worse. Again, there are degrees of high just like degrees of drinking. Noone should be driving after an entire joint.

That's the big one for me as well. I don't care what he does off the football field, but when those actions start messing up what we can do as a team ON the field, that's where I have my issue.

I may not agree with the leagues stance in weed related instances, but the rules are the rules. Hope he learns from this.

For all of you that think it should be legal, I think this post is exactly the reason 48 states and the federal government have decided its not such a good idea.

The moron quotient is still just too high.

He likely needs to change his circle of friends.

You just know he has a buddy who is saying, "Hey dude, your real problem is that you don't know how to avoid getting caught. I found this article on the internet. Works every time dude."

:D

Yes... there are only about a 1000 psych studies to prove that the only people who believe the aforementioned have destroyed an inordinate number of brain cells using drugs.

What a *******! You only get one chance to make a good first impression. I expect to new coaching staff to put him on the block when all said & done. Too bad to waste such talent.
