15 pitches and one curve ball. Batter was good enough to catch up to most of them and foul them off. ONE DANG CURVE BALL. What crap pitch calling.

I don't know. I would say lucky to foul them off to start the at bat. I do agree at some point he needed to add in some more curve balls.

It's rare that a team can go an entire season without hitting the skids at least once, if not two or three times... What separates playoff teams from the fakers is the ability to keep a slump to a minimum of games, while stringing together multiple win streaks. It's hard to pull that off when you are dealing with the number of holes this team has...
I think it will take an amazing effort from the front office, to Tory and down to the players themselves to somehow overcome the holes and continue to contend...
IMO, issues like Tomas, Corbin a stud center fielder who just can't stay healthy and an unreliable offense overall are just too much.

Your right about all teams having slumps. This team will win at home but won't on the road. Especially if they face some adversity while on the road.

Do you think the 17 game stretch affected them the last few games, especially on the defensive side??

5-6 on the trip against some mediocre opponents. Not exactly contender level work.

My question is were the dbacks just off or were the Marlins playing lights out baseball?

They all have major league players. I'm sure some of the series we won/swept, the other team thought they were better and should have taken the series. Don't take anyone lightly, it will bite you in the a$$.

It's crazy that last year they couldn't win at all at home... I have no doubt that their home record will come back to a more typical type level - which means that they will have to seriously improve on the road... I don't see it... Just too many holes.
And yes, playing 17 games straight will tax any team... They're off tomorrow and than have a very favorable home schedule. If they don't go at least 4 & 2 over this homestand, I think it will be the beginning of a lot of disappointment... Hope I'm wrong. With Pollack coming back - if he can somehow stay healthy he could bring a spark back to the offense. However, with Walker still out and Corbin sporting a spiffy 9.0 ERA since May 1st, along with Bradley becoming quite hittable and Rodney keeping things "interesting", Left Field a gaping hole and Drury totally unreliable at the plate, I just don't see this team as a legit post season contender...

Bradley is very fixable. Use all your pitches not just your fastball. And I'm not sure about Drury, Are we expecting too much from him?

As for being disappointed, if they make it to 80+ wins that would be a vast improvement over last year.

Yea - I guess "disappointment" might be a bit too strong... though, if they do actually crash to earth and only win 75 games or so, I just don't think there would be another way to characterize it...
To get to 81 wins (.500) for the season, they don't even need to play .500 ball to do it (.456 or 47 & 56). Seems doable for sure. However, if what we just witnessed on this road trip is more than a blip, would it be so surprising if they ended up going 41 & 62 (.398) the rest of the way and wound up at 75 & 87 for the season?
That would still be a nice improvement over last year. However, given this start, playing .398 ball the rest of the way would be a disappointment for me...
