Good thing we got Casey Fossum instead of this guy. Thanks again Joe Jr for trading two elite ML pitchers and getting zero quality arms in return for them.

The only vets on the field were O-dogg, Gonzo and Byrnes.
Here we are in September, the D'backs played what has been their regular infield (Jackson/Hudson/Drew/Tracy) and Bob Melvin is still experimenting with his batting order.

Orlando Hudson batted leadoff for just the 2nd time this season. Management by desperation.

Not only have the D'backs lost their will to win, they have lost the will to avoid embarassment. No-hitted by a guy in his 18th Major League start.

Bob Melvin isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier. But he must realize that he's toast after this season. He, Jay Bell, his Batting coach and his Pitching Coach.

But it's oh so agonizing 'til then.

Last thought....Not only do we get no-hit, but we get no-hit by a dude named Anabell!

Is it spring training yet?

Red Sox fans have to feel worse than D'backs fans about Sanchez' no no. He was one of the players in the Josh Beckett deal. Larry Beinfest is a friggin' genius.

You gotta love the Marlins. When they have a chance at a World Series they throw everything into winning it and when their window closes, the front office actually realizes it and trades everything off to get elite prospects to make another run a few years later. On the other hand since the Dbacks inception they threw everything into winning it and did only to keep throwing money at non-contenders (or putting lipstick on a pig is another way of putting it) while trading off guys for quick-fix prospects instead of potential franchise ones.

This Marlins team right now is going to be scary good in a couple years, they might even have the horses to win the NL this year. Seriously, can anyone else name a better starting staff in the NL?

It is a waste of a franchise. The only constant is that they will be successful and then sell off the team. Just bad ownership and a lousy stadium deal. Wayne Huizenga owns the stadium and just suffocates the Marlins. He gets rent, concessions, parking and billboard advertisng. Luria gets gate and league revenue only.

I love to watch this team, but the future looks real bleak.

Agree with you on the stadium deal and how it affects the ownership group, but I don't think there's much wrong with selling off a team that will not win a World Series. The Marlins put some money into the team in 2003-2005 and got a World Series out of it but once they knew their window was closed they smartly decided to start over instead of throwing money at the problem like nearly all MLB teams do these days.

This team has a $15 million payroll ($4.5 of which goes to Dontrelle) and has a shot at making the playoffs with a squad comprised of kids who under MLB rules will make chump change for the foreseeable future. The future looks very bright for the Marlins.

yeah the future is bright - but the stadium issue is greater than the clouds that normally hang over dolphin stadium - also hanley ramirez was in the beckett deal

beinfest is a great GM (imo better than dombrowski, who has had a nice career for himself as well......)

the starting staff this year is very talented, and the minors are pretty well stocked

in a perfect world they will get a stadium done, get some real revenue and use some of this surplus pitching to round out the gaps in the field/lineup an be competative for a long time

and keep Joe Giradi for awhile, but it doesn't look like that will happen after the Luria / Giradi profane riddled shout out.
