I know draft sites are often used for references by almost all of us on here. Can anybody find one that had Buchanon in the top 50, let alone top 30. I don't see how anyone can argue that it wasn't a total need pick.

As far as I have read, some people think he was drafted earlier than he could've been. equally offset by people saying he never would've been there by our second round pick and that is his a perfect fit for the defense.


I wish it was one of those books where you can choose different outcomes based on character decisions. It would be REALLY interesting to know who we would've taken at 20 if we had not traded. See, it's the trade that throws the wrench in it for me. But, if they truly would've taken him at 20 (as you can TAKE TO THE BANK Keim and Arians will say tomorrow) then the trade is kosh.

I think we had 3 players we wanted & thought might be there at 20. Shazier, Pryor & Barr. When the last (Pryor) was taken off the board we traded & our backup might have been Ford whom was snatched up by the Chiefs...at that we panicked & over drafted a solid, but IMO lesser player fearing he would be gone at 52.

Personally with all the problems our secondary had with TEs I would've drafted Ward.

He has some great elements to his game. But we reached down 20-50 picks to take him in the first. Do others that spent as much time studying this draft feel he is similar in talent to Ed Reed? Keim got worked hard and forced into a need pick. He could have had Bucannon in the second and possibly even the third round. Shamarko Thomas. Drafted in rd 4 by the Steelers.

A lot of 'experts' had him as a mid second round pick. If you wait, you most likely don't get him. If the cards thought he was good enough to be the starting SS on their team then they did exactly what they should of, trade back and then draft him.

He's a SS more in the lines of AW than FS like Reed...let's hope he's nearly as good as old #24. Didn't we get him rd 3? Hmmmm

Can the detractors make an argument against picking this guy at 27 would be? Seriously other then the reasoning many mocks and analysts didnt have him that high?

He looks like what the scouts like to call a "clean" player. I dont see many deficiencies in his game/makeup/physical skills.
