The two posters who were praising Buchanon are WSU fans. When Carl Bradford gets drafted there will be ASU fans posting here that whichever team drafted him got a steal.

Noted. But I still think one our rival teams who follow this. Young man and his school, praise us for our pick, carries a bit of weight.

Let's not be over-dramatic.

As far as I have read, some people think he was drafted earlier than he could've been. equally offset by people saying he never would've been there by our second round pick and that is his a perfect fit for the defense.

I wish it was one of those books where you can choose different outcomes based on character decisions. It would be REALLY interesting to know who we would've taken at 20 if we had not traded. See, it's the trade that throws the wrench in it for me. But, if they truly would've taken him at 20 (as you can TAKE TO THE BANK Keim and Arians will say tomorrow) then the trade is kosh.

I think we had 3 players we wanted & thought might be there at 20. Shazier, Pryor & Barr. When the last (Pryor) was taken off the board we traded & our backup might have been Ford whom was snatched up by the Chiefs...at that we panicked & over drafted a solid, but IMO lesser player fearing he would be gone at 52.

Personally with all the problems our secondary had with TEs I would've drafted Ward.

I know draft sites are often used for references by almost all of us on here. Can anybody find one that had Buchanon in the top 50, let alone top 30. I don't see how anyone can argue that it wasn't a total need pick.

Thank you. Look I want Bucannon to be successful as much as anyone else. If he is the next Ed Reed (24th pick Baltimore) I will admit it I was wrong and be glad we have him. He has some great elements to his game. But we reached down 20-50 picks to take him in the first. Do others that spent as much time studying this draft feel he is similar in talent to Ed Reed? Keim got worked hard and forced into a need pick. He could have had Bucannon in the second and possibly even the third round. Is Bucannon 100 picks better than Craig Lostonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTUV0xyvuOw of LSU?

I pray Bradford makes it's to #52 because I don't think Van Noy makes it past 40, which is another player I'm sure the Cards had as potential target.

Do you know who the #1 SS overall at the 2013 NFL combine was?

Shamarko Thomas. Drafted in rd 4 by the Steelers.

Still good to be athletic. Not saying combine makes you the best.

Good thing Keim subscribes to that one.

A lot of 'experts' had him as a mid second round pick. If you wait, you most likely don't get him. If the cards thought he was good enough to be the starting SS on their team then they did exactly what they should of, trade back and then draft him.

He's a SS more in the lines of AW than FS like Reed...let's hope he's nearly as good as old #24. Didn't we get him rd 3? Hmmmm ;)

CBS=51
National Football Post=89
Walterfootball=2nd-3rd rounder
Draftek= 53
found one Great Blue draft=49

Those are 5 respectable sites. I know their not the be all end all but they are good for reference.

Mayock, McShay, Kiper, Scouts inc - All had him in the 40 to 45 range.

Mayock mentioned after the pick if we didn't pick him the Patriots were very high on him. This I know to be true as well.

Anyone who has watched path to the draft on NFL network would have seen many of their experts talk about Buchanon as a fringe 1st rounder and a without a doubt high second rounder.

And anyone who ever reads or takes any notes what so ever from walterfootball is worse off for it. They are absolute hacks, who's top 100 boards are historically low. Ranked 63 out of 66 draft prognosticators per the huddle reports scores.

As for the pick itself, he is the fiercest hitter in the draft, with good hands to boot. Stiff as a change of direction guy though. I am currently in wait and see mode with this pick, I dont hate or love the pick right now.

That is all, see you all next year.

Can the detractors make an argument against picking this guy at 27 would be? Seriously other then the reasoning many mocks and analysts didnt have him that high?

He looks like what the scouts like to call a "clean" player. I dont see many deficiencies in his game/makeup/physical skills.

Biggest, fastest safety in the draft. Has the intangibles as well.

This kid was overlooked because of the team he played on. Period. The Cardinals had him in their top 20 prospects. Solid pick @ 27.

If Bellicheat picked him at 29, people would be calling him a genius.

I think he's a great pick. Especially after the trade down. Haters gonna hate.

I know I heard BA making fun of mocks drafting second and third rounders in the first. I know I heard Keim saying he wanted to draft back while still filling needs. I know I've been saying Kerry Rhodes could handle the assignments that Cro, Honey, and PP shouldn't have to. If he is plug and play, while also being an option to blitz, we scored.

So Mayock, McShay, Kiper have hi 40-45 range but Walter has him 2-3 rounder but are hacks :confused:

isn't 40-45 in round 2?

Yay, Joe! Great to see you drop by.

Of course, I'm not sure that you really want to rely on the New England College Scouting department for defensive backs as a supporting point for the success of a prospect.

He's big bad & fast. A combination we can use with our mush rush. Appaerantly injuries are a Cardinal draft plus, meaning we get better value after considering all details.

This.

As it is he reached for his DE.

And we picked up our extra pick everyone wanted by the 3rd Rd.
