give it to the bullpen and lose. What is it with Laroach. Made 2 more errors tonight.

Haren must be pissed as I'm sure he would have preferred to finish the game.

The Bullpen got the Cards to hit into 3 easy ground ball plays. Only one of them was converted into an out. Its stating to be something different every night. Its starting to be a culture of losers.

And that is the consequence of an inexperienced, lethargic Manager.

But still it continues.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Reassign Hinch to some Minor League or "Assistant to ..." role, move Gibson up to interim Manager, make Jay Bell bench coach and we wouldn't need to go outside the organization to remove the malaise for the rest of the season.

And the same with our Pitching Coach.

He had a chance to finish the game. Giving up back-to-back singles to start the 9th with a two run lead puts an end to that.

let Haren finish the game f me.

Not a chance. Those first two runners were his. Hinch gave him a chance to finish, Haren didn't do the job.

Absolutely, this time Hinch waited too long. I know hindsight is 20/20 but Haren should not have started the last inning.

Hinch at this point just needs to go Costanza, and do exactly the opposite of what his instinct is.

This group looks like a little league team in late innings.
Hey, maybe they'll let Mark Reynolds hit a plastic ball off a tee to convince him that there's more to at-bats than swinging from the heels.

Or is he protecting his leg injury by not having to "run" the bases.

It's a shame because his fielding has improved so much.

He really could be another Mike Schmidt if he were being managed properly.

As so many before him, he probably will be somewhere else.

Had the same coaching staff last year when Reynolds played well.

I realize that the team had nothing going offensively last night, but why pull Upton before his last AB and a chance to extend his hitting streak? I would be miffed, if I were him.

His propensity for record breaking strikeout seasons two years running wasn't really playing well. Even worse, it set bad habits which keep getting worse.

You could say that his HR and RBI figures this season indicate he is playing well. But not with a .212 batting average and on his way to another record setting strikeout performance.

Beyond the offensive numbers, the concern is his state of mind each at bat. It's a problem! Getting benched is a problem!

To Mark's credit, his fielding has improved. But throwing was the least of his worries.

The only way he is going to be able to regain confidence is with a coaching staff skilled in solving problems. That means either a new staff here . . . or a trade, where he will probably blossom.

Didn't they just re-sign Reynolds earlier this year?? I don't see him being traded...
I also agree that he needs serious help with regard to his approach to hitting... I've said this before and I'll say it again, while he is putting up respectable HR and RBI totals, the team suffers greatly from his inability to consistently put the ball in play. It would be one thing to hit .200 with a more normal strikeout total. But, to hit .200 with record-breaking strikeouts just kills the teams' ability to be competitive, to put pressure on the opposing defense, to force them to at least have to make a play on the ball...

The Gibby era gets off to a good start.

Interesting that he threw CY into the lead off spot. Not complaining when the guy goes 3/5 5 RBIs and a triple away from the cycle.

We saw bunts, stolen bases, a Reynolds walk, and we would have won even without that last home run. This is fantastic. It looks like we will have something to watch for.

Btw, it's July and Young is still performing. Could bring that average up a bit of course, but now I'm glad we have a manager who will take advantage of his and his teammates' speed on the basepaths.

We definitely saw a different Diamondback team. It looked like they were more focused. Let's see if they continue to play that way. I liked how they were aggressive on the base path.

I love how teams come out and play hard for a new manager, if only for a few games. I liked what we saw last night, especially the all white with red trim. I will be buying one of those hats fo sho.

How can people ever complain about Grace? Garagiola and Gonzo are the most unwatchable color commentators ever. Also I think today might be the worst lineup in Diamondbacks history, Snyder batting cleanup haha.

Boy this thread has been dead after the hope and change of the Gibson era went ptttthhhhhhtttt.

How about that awesome call to have a hit-and-run with out pudgy catcher on 1B and our leading all of MLB in strikeouts 3B at the plate. That's some instinctive gutsy managing there.

HOLY COW!! I was going to be posting a comment about this topic!!! I was eating dinner with my kids (and watching the game at the same time... Yea, I know... But my wife wasn't home so I was able to get away with it!! ;)).
Anyway, I almost chocked on my steak when I saw that Gibby attempted a hit & run with Miggy and Reynolds.... just couldn't believe he would be that stupid!!! There is no excuse, no rationale, NOTHING that he can offer that would justify attempting a hit & run with the slowest guy on the team and the batter being the guy who is breaking strikeout records on a yearly basis!!!! WOW!!!!! :bang:
