3-2 Pirates after four. Errors playing a part in this game.

Now 4-2. Estes is throwing strikes, but too many are being hit.

That fine line between giving up too many walks vs. throwing strikes and getting hit.

Not looking good tonight against a not very good Pirate team.

Diamondbacks lose 6-2. Hopefully this loss will piss them off and they take it out on the Pirates tomorrow.

There was a point in maybe the 5th inning where it was CLEAR Estes was frustrated and upset and I felt like Hill needed to go out there and try and get his head back in the game but he didn't and the meltdown continued. Sometimes it is the little things over the course of a season which make a big deal. This wasn't a deal where it directly changed the outcome I don't think but it is still good procedure for the C to get out there and cool down a steaming pitcher. Somewhere down the line it may matter.

Glaus goes deep as the Diamondbacks lead 4-1 in the third. Perez has already thrown a lot of pitches.

Then Shawn Green.

Edit. Oops, I was too slow on the draw.

Diamondbacks win 8-4! Javy pitched another great game. Props to Glaus and Green for their homers.

Koplove pitches 2 innings and gives up a run in each inning. His ERA is now 5.60 in 16 games (only 1 game behind Bruney for the most appearances among the staff).

Koplove has heart . . . he just doesn't have the arm.

I'll trade you Tim Worrell for Koppy. He lives in Arizona and went home for personal reasons (rumor has it the wife heard he has a chick on the side here).

Watched the game last night as I get Fox Pittsburgh. I had forgotten how agonizing it is to watch Russ Ortiz pitch. Just think you have 4 years of him. I never saw any pitcher who can put so many guys on base, yet manage to pitch out of his self-created trouble. Good news is I get to see Webby today. I love watching him pitch.

Halsey today, not Webb - sorry! However, so far (KOW) he's looking like a good deal for us, and he was a pleasure to watch for the most part in ST.

I kept thinking last night - well, two things - first, if Ortiz can focus enough to get OUT of trouble, why can't he focus enough not to get INto trouble? Second, seemed like our guys got to a lot of 3 ball counts before striking out - our OBP is slipping.

Tonight is an important night for the Diamondbacks, in my opinion. If this team wants to make a run at the division, then they have to stop shooting themselves in the foot and beat the teams they are supposed to beat. They must salvage a split against the Pirates tonight.

Poor offense against average pitchers, this is starting to remind me way too much of last year. Two of the G's need to get going, and we can only hope on our 2 catchers. Gonzo definately looks "back".

Ugh!

Well, that series sucked...

Not to be outdone by Valverde, Kerry Lightenburg showed some great BP pitching by giving up 7 runs in the 9th - - final score, 16-2 Pirates.

I asked this on another board, but at what point do we start sending down some non-producers to Tucson, and bring up the Wonder Boys? I'd hate to see Carlos & Conor rushed up to the majors, but this offense needs a spark, and soon.
