The 2B-SS platoon of Wilson and Pennington against the LHP went 0-6 and left 5 runners on base. Each of them is batting in the .100's. Add that to the pitcher batting 9th and, once they go past our #6 hitter, it's cake.

When Hill is back at 2B and, hopefully, Didi playing every day, it is not only going to help our offense, it is going to take some pressure off our relievers who, right now, can't afford to make one bad pitch.

Collmenter pitched a strong 6th-7th-8th, but still cut our 2-run lead to one run. Luckily Putz held on this time for the save.

The good news is that we've won 4 out of 5. I have high hopes once our injured players come off the DL.

Wilson looks so goofy at the plate. Such a strange batting stance. Don't like Pennington. Hated that he was in the trade. Black hole in the batting lineup. I don't miss Stephen drew though (sorry!)

Don't forget, well have bloomquist back soon enough.

Pennington made some good plays at SS. I can live with that.

Putz had his nasty stuff working tonight. Great to see that.

Love getting the W with Miggy and Didi getting the night off. Goldy's bomb off the top of the foul pole was enough as Cahill, Collmentor, and Putz closed the door. I would love to see us take at least 3 of 4, and make the upcoming Giants series a battle for first heading into to May.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Cahill would be better as a middle reliever than a starter.
When opposing teams see him for the 2nd and 3rd times in a game, Cahill seems to get hit harder, walks more and generally tires easily...

Last night, in the middle of the 5th inning, he looked as though he had just pitched a complete game the way he was huffin and puffin....

Anyone else notice that the very first splitter JJ threw last night was effective? I could tell from the first one that he had it and I could exhale.

Not sure. Seems like Cahill frequently takes "an inning or two" to get going. Then it's usually pretty smooth until about the 6th or 7th.

has anyone else noticed that steve (our play by play guy, won't try his last name) acts like every fly out is going to be a home run? drives me nuts!

Yes and it drives me crazy. He is terrible. Besides making routine fly balls sound like they are homers, he makes routine grounders sound like they are hits up the middle. I like Brenly and would much rather see someone else than Steve. I will not be surprised if he is not back next year. He sounds like those kids who call a half an inning once a week.

Steve is a homer, as are most play-by-play and field announcers. Would we expect anything less from a first-time D'back? Of course not.

And he still has difficulty saying which outfielder is calling for the ball in left-center or right-center. Other than that, Steve has gotten off to a good start.

When Joe Borowski joined him and Brenly in the booth tonight, Steve was so relaxed in his chair, leaning back, he looked a head shorter than either of them.

I think Steve is the right combination of professional and personable. Steve>>>Sutton and Bob Brenly>>>>>>Grace.

I like that the few times they show a shot of the concession stands, our guys refer to a beer as a beer. As opposed to Sutton and Grace's (wink, wink) "adult beverages" references.

I'm sorry but you must be watching a different game. Steve is horrible and can't tell if the ball is going 100 feet or 350 feet. It has nothing with being a homer. He is terrible and it's very hard to listen to him. He comes off like a minor-league announcer.

Just got back from the game... Gotta say - on a beautiful evening, with the roof popped open, Chase Field is a really, really nice place to be. 29,000 in attendance tonight so a nice crowd to boot.

McCarthy really isn't good... He's immensely hittable.
Man do we need our injured players back... Marte really isn't that impressive at all. Pennington and Wilson are putrid.

I'm seriously wondering what's up with Miggy and Prado. They both look lost up at the plate. Prado was seriously bad. Didn't pull one ball tonight... not even a foul ball.

And I REALLY hope DiDi is ok... That was very scary! And, oh yea - Sipp sucks!

This... Gotta believe it must be driving Brenly crazy...

Was there tonight as well. Would somebody please tell Prado he doesn't need to try and dink every ball info right. God he looked awful and I swear Marte is only able to cover a 100 sq.ft area in the outfield.

I'm glad the surrounds were nice...seems everything else was ordinary!

I agree about McCarthy. I don't get it, he seems terrible to me. And relying on far too few to do far too much at the plate. As said earlier, 7-9 in the order are producing nada, Prado and Miggy are nowhere. Pretty keen to get the DL cleared!

McCarthy and cahill both have been huge disappointments to this point in the season. Getting into high pitch counts early has been a problem.

As much as I wanted marte to be great he just hasn't been. Pennington and Wilson don't even know what's going on at the plate.

I don't find Cahill to be a disappointment, but only because I don't expect much!

He is quite bi-polar in that he is either lights out, or woeful!
