I only care about the RedZone. Me thinks that is the greatest thing since the square wheel. I can always watch the full game if I want when they replay it.

Well, they're not charging me for the equipment, I'm just paying for the upgrade to wireless mini's and for installation.
Yeah, I had to agree to a 2 year contract but they lowered my monthly bill by $30. It's not like I have a choice if I want
to watch Cardinal games... which I do.

If you call, you can get upgraded to the Genie system for free if all you want is 2 wired mini's and install it yourself. I think
that's what Shane did. Didn't cost him anything other than 2 year contract... btw I've had Directv since 2006 so maybe
that helped since I've been with them for 10 years.

.
I carry the protection plan.. So when you want anything installed its included as well.... JUST fyi

I have a genie... And 5 separate DVR's ..... I think I could record up to 8 shows at once lol.

Here is a simple trick, that most people probably figured out well before me... But I'll share it anyway.

If you have a Genie, or several DVR's with a SWM switch...And you like getting up Sunday to watch football, but are sick of the endless commercials (if you start watching at kickoff)

Pick 4 or 5 Morning games that interest you, tape them all.
When the one your watching live hits the first commercial break...pause..Go to your recordings and start the next one....rinse and repeat (Make sure you use the recording list to "change games", so you don't accidentally channel change to a live game in progress and play spoiler to yourself.

I can basically watch 4-5 games, in just over the amount it takes to watch one....Without even 5 seconds of a commercial... And I might get a spoiler every now and then on the ticker... But that beats re-watching the game when you already know the outcome.

I have other bud available. The bud I'm speaking of ran out. It was a glorious one and came up short:(

And I hope some of you all don't think less of me at least I'm honest about it. I have gave up alcohol and kill bud is my crutch now. I'm smoking less now...haven't smoked in a couple of months but I plan to come football season.

My wife has a really nice can on her that's why I fell in love with her.

Directv technician showed up at 11am and was done by 1 o'clock. New Genie system is great and it's all cherry. Wireless is sweet, I'm glad I upgraded to that. Now I just have to figure out how to use it... Ha!

Thanks for the tip Shane!!

Very good Lol. Just think how times are changing. 20 yrs ago it would've been taboo to mention casual use.

curious ... back when I was a youngster the cops really didn't sweat us smoking weed too much...towards the late eighties they seemed to get stricter on it...
did a little research and as it turns out,...we were pretty close to getting weed legalized back in the seventies...11 states had decriminalized... but then Reagan started the "War on Drugs" and the nation started taking a harder stance on weed.
not sure exactly how accurate this is but some of it is things I remember...interesting stuff..

anyway... back on topic... DAMN DIRECTV!!

Thats all I get too, I switch around so much until the Cards game it's even irritating to ME! RedZone switches for me and at the very least I've had that free every year

I called them yesterday when i saw i was being billed 6 payments of $59.99 for NFL Sunday Ticket...and they gave me a 2 year $30 a month credit (for a 2 year commitment) worth $720, plus $20 a month credits (off my HBO, Sports Pack, SHO fees) and a $9 credit each month for NFL Sunday Ticket. So for the next 6 months I am getting $59 a month in credits. Plus $30 a month for the following year and a half.

Question---does anyone know what the options are this year for getting NFL Pre-Season games? I paid the $100 last year to nfl.com, but is there something less expensive?

I have dish network....get redzone every year...love it...since the cardinals usually score a lot,...they are on rezone all the time....and if its a good game, the guys at redzone want to see it too...so they stay on it and just flash to the other games when someone scores.
between redzone and national games...I feel like I saw them all the past couple seasons.
way cheaper than directv... just upgraded to a hopper system....can record two shows while every tv in the house is watching something different...can access recordings from any room...and we have every channel dish offers for less than 200 a month.

I used to pay for all on Direct TV. Got tired of bill going up all the time. I realized I prefer to watch the Red Zone anyway. They show all the Cards TDs and I can catch the whole game in rerun during the week. I switched to Time Warner Cable and now have phone, cable, and fast internet, all for what I was paying for DTV only. Plus I get the Red Zone for free now. I couldn't find a better deal, with exception of just ditching the whole TV thing and stream everything via cable for like $40-$60. I watch all TV shows via streaming now, with commercials removed. Saves me a couple hours in time every night.

In case you don't know, Couchtuner.ch has all TV shows up for free streaming a few minutes after they air ET. They have whole series that lasted for 10 yrs or more there for you to stream. Who needs regular TV anymore, except for the Red Zone. I could actually live now with only a fast internet connection and no phone or TV bill. Would save $50,000 over a lifetime if one went that way. I am old now, so for convenience I bite the bullet and pay TWC the $140 a month for everything.

After all that Directv is saying my new apartment address is not eligible for streaming service. When I called to ask why they couldn't tell me they just said the computer tells us if it's eligible or not.

I did just get an answer they say because my apartment complex DOES allow satellite dishes I'm not eligible. They do, but they have a very onerous required deposit and insurance, yes insurance requirement to dissuade people. The guy who toured us told us very few people opt to do it they just get Xfinity like us.

It was going to be $350 anyways so I'll pass.

Did you have to undertake the annual dance of "oh in that case I think I'm going to terminate my service, Yada Yada Yada"???

I was going to do the "dance" but I called and talked about switching to At&t internet. They ended up giving me internet for $12/month, $9 off Sunday ticket max, my first Sunday Ticket max payment is taken care of, a $5 monthly bill credit, free HBO and Showtime for 3 months, and a $200 Visa card.

I'll take that and be happy.

No, I just asked what they could do to lower my monthly bill. What you have to do, though, is get past the first representative. Typically when you mention NFL Sunday Ticket the first rep will transfer you to a more specified agent, one who has more autonomy to give you the best credits and discounts.

Didn't you have to call AT&T for that deal? The times I have asked about bundling, the DTV agents have always said i need to call AT&T. When I called AT&T the best they offered for a bundle of TV and cellphone was $5 off a month. Now, I already have both DTV and AT&T wireless, so I didn't qualify for the latest bundle deals for newbies---which always is a frustration.

They did say my deal was through AT&T but that they could apply the discounts via directv and my directv bill would not change for 2 years.

I do think I will start receiving my bill from AT&T though.

I don't recall even having that option last year.
