Do you think the players hurt as much as the fans do?

I am not just talking about the game tonight, but in general. It seems like its not only somber here but sometimes it frightens me reading some comments by fans after a loss or series of losses.

Which got me thinking, do you think for the most part the players hurt as much as the fans do at losing and not succeeding? Guys won't admit it, not publically, but in the serenity of the locker room do tempers flare differently when the cameras and press aren't there? Sure, there are people in this league that only think of this as a job, but then there are those who live for this game and hurt as much if not more than fans most of the time.

Take for example, Shaq...he is known to talk to players and tell them what's up. He doesn't sugar coat it. If he is pissed, he will let you know.

Hell, some players can't even wait to get to the locker room to let each other know how they feel. Case in point, the 2006 playoffs, team mates Gary Payton and Dwyane Wade yelling at each other on the bench.

Tempers flare, I know that. But when a team loses, be it a regular season game or an elimination game in the playoffs, it seems the stigma comes from the fans...

I love this game, so I am quite frequently emotional throughout a season. Hell, I got drunk at 16 because of a certain team and their lack of wanting to win...

I heard that Shaq wouldn't even talk to the media tonight. They mentioned something about him petting a dog or something.

whatever, it still ups my post count, so go ahead post away...

That sheds a lot of light on why you're such an awful poster, all you care about is your post count, not quality.

I care about quality, but I couldn't think of a snarky comeback, so I used one that seemed like I didn't care.

Do I get points for being honest?

Fans pay to see misery, the players are paid to produce it.

I can say whatever I want and get into your signature...

i needed a few of your better ones. I'm not coming around here much lately, and will probably log on less and less. I'm more active on the cavs boards now. i get tired of the doom and gloom that's been around here this year.

No Andrew, players love to lose and high five each other after every buzzer beating 3 they allow. If you've ever played any sort of sport competitively, you wouldn't be asking this question.

....i believe the players could care less....a check for $100,000 for playing 1 game makes a loss a lot more sweet....its all about the money for these guys, plain and simple

Been thinking ... could an NBA team be more like just the typical corporate department? The only difference is that they have millions of people watching them, they shower together, and know what each others' salaries are. At least your boss can't trade you for salary cap relief.

Can we expect any more out of our players than we do ourselves at work? In their job who hasn't slacked, called in "sick", got in a heated argument with a coworker, missed an assignment, engaged in gossip....

Maybe you can argue they are playing a game that they love. Think computer/video games that we love. These are games we choose to pay and play and I'm sure there some parts that you're just grinding out to the next level/scenario.

So, I'm going to say that there are a lot of fans that care more than the players.. I would guess the average fan would not post on a message board. And a player who did not like playing in the NBA would not go on record of saying so.

losers dont mind losing, but winners hate it especially when it shouldnt have happened. This is where the coach loses the players, when the players start second guessing him in critical decision making. I expect shaw and nash hate losing, not so sure about the others. I used to thinlk amare hated it, but he appeared to be fumbling around out there late last night, some kind of malaise. Players who think the reason they lost was that they didnt get enough touches more easily fall to the losing attitude.

I like how Andrew's first instinct after everyone telling him what a bad thread his other thread was... was to make another thread equally as bad.
