Is it possible that Mikal has a higher ceiling than we gave him credit for, yes. But Kendrick Perkins' job isn't to give objective analysis, it's to stir the pot. He's not worth paying attention to.

Objectively speaking, the odds that Mikal turns into the Bridges version of Kawhi Leonard are remotely small.

I'm not sure why some posters are making the comparison between Durant and Bridges. They are not the same player. It's the totality of the trade that needs to be evaluated.

The Suns gave up way too much in the trade for Durant and including Bridges is what made the trade totally unbalanced both now and in the future. He is a 26-year-old player on his way up. Hopefully Durant will stay healthy and remain the superstar the Suns need him to be.

If the Suns don't win a championship with Durant, this trade is going to look awfully lopsided in the Nets favor years from now.

Of course it will. But this is what teams do when they are this close.

Even when Mikal has big scoring nights it looks awkward. I’m not sure how he’s put up some of the numbers he has but I don’t see it as sustainable. I remember a crossover then finish he had last night and having never envisioned him doing that. There is no pressure on the Nets anymore so I expect players to have some big statistical nights like Cam Thomas has been doing.

Since the Nets are not only irrelevant but in the East I find it easy to root for the twins.

This trade didn't just reinvigorate the team, it reinvigorated my fandom. I'm sticker shocked, but we didn't have enough before, and I knew it. Now I think we do.

I've been going through other NBA rosters.....naw no nope. Our best player is better than your best player. Our second best player is better than your second best player. Our third best player is better than your third best player. Our fourth best player is better than your fourth best player. And after that, I don't think it matters.

I think the Suns needed to make a move at the trade deadline but I don't think they had to go for the 65 yard pass play to win.

I feel like KD wouldn’t want a PC with thousands of ppl in attendance but whatever. Feels kinda corny like the Heat did.

If you're feeling sad about the trade, I have a cure for you. Take a deep breath. Then go through Durant's game logs this season.

Come back here and post if you feel happier after. I did.

I love Bridges. He is one of my favorite players ever as a Suns fan. I will follow his career. Even when he was struggling a bit this season, I kept saying he is still one of the best two way players in the league. I think he will get better. Having said that, we had to do it. Chances of getting your hands on someone like Durant may never happen again. It's a risk worth taking.

P.S. Part of me hopes someday Bridges returns somehow.

See this is poor analysis. When say “now” you can neither count the draft picks nor what bridges or cam may grow into. You literally can only compare what bridges/cam/crowder could’ve produced with us had they remained vs KD/Warren/players that come to us via buyout because we acquired KD (difficult to determine) produce this season. And I believe by seasons end that’s going to be an avalanche in favor of the trade.

Comparing the future winner/loser will only be determined as things unfold. If those picks end up being late picks and KD stays relatively healthy and produces it is likely a wash to +\- 10% unless suns win more than 1 championship or bridges plateaus or cam keeps getting injured, etc. Too many variables.

I would be shocked if you’re wrong on 1-4 of suns verses anyone else. Teams might have one or two of each those in the opposite direction, but those are few, and even those are likely arguable (like Durant/Tatum and Booker/brown)

Durant is a top-10 player of all time

Mikal wont even be a top-30 Sun of all time.

Stop it, people. You’re overthinking

He was talking about the fan support - for someone to actually reach that far back is very impressive. He remembered their record and everything!

I'm not saying it was an impossible shot but calling it "easy" is a stretch. When you consider the angle he drove from, the clock and the presence of Embiid a lot of players would have rushed that shot release. Especially role players that aren't put in positions like that very often.
it was a layup. that he wildly missed. to win the game.

Durant is an incredible interview - nothing fake about him at all. I'm glad he's on our team.
