Id really, really like Freeney back.

Albeit hes a 1 shot guy. Meaning he only comes in for clear cut, 3rd down, end of game pass situations, but his 1 shot is still deadly, as we saw last year.

Literally he won us games. Namely the Ravens and Bengals games.

Golden is the daily driver. Freeney is the specialist "break glass" guy.

Chandler is the balance between the two.

yes, because a report by espn will beat a "bigredrage" hunch everytime. lol

why does harbaugh jokingly saying "freeney is still a FA" tell you that they are signing him or that he is going there?

Ill make a season long avatar bet with you if you want to bet on if he goes to baltimore over AZ.

its not a report by espn, harbaugh just said freeney is available during a presser.

in my signature.

If Freeney signs with Baltimore, BigRed1959 can choose my avatar for the entire 2016-2017 AZCardinals season.

If he signs in AZ, I choose BigRed1959 avatar for the season.

Awesome. When you win I'd make him sport a Cubs avatar since he despises them. I look forward to it. I believe he also has issues with heavy metal, stoners, gamers, etc. The options are endless. :D

P.S. He's either going to sign here or retire imo.

While a number of you are sure Freeney will want more money this time, I am almost as certain that he will prefer playing for the Cards, as he knows how close they are to winning it all. He also knows that they will let him sit as long as he wants so long as he is in football shape when he shows up. They let him sit out most of the off season last year already and it worked well for both Freeney and the team. I think he would play for the Cards for less than others might offer that couldn't get to the big show

I hope cards sign him and double his sack incentives to 200k per sack.

Then let him start as late as he wants.

I despise cub fans, not the cubs. The team and the coach are very entertaining.

WTF is a gamer?

Hopefully, the Cards will team Freeney up with Jones, Campbell, and Gunter or Golden on passing downs.

the Cards should have let Freeney know they will sign him once all of the drafted and FA rookie contracts are signed and they see where the salary cap stacks up and what creative incentives they need to put together in Freeney's contract.

With Jones on the other side, there will be no double-teaming of either player so the pass rush will be awesome, perhaps proving to be the best in the NFL.

I'd love to have Freeney back, even before the signing of Jones. But now I really want him back. He was big-time last year: 8 sacks, 1 assist, and 3 forced fumbles (!) in 11 games. 3 forced fumbles in 11 games...in spot duty, playing sporadically. That doesn't even count pressures. It's fair to say he changed games for us last year. 3 forced fumbles in 11 games can't be understated, that is huge. And 8 sacks is huge considering we had nobody on the front line of any note other than Campbell.

You can't underestimate his leadership on this team. Those of you who saw his interviews post game saw it. He's total class and all year he never got the horse ahead of the cart, he knew it was a process with this team.

I'd seriously limit snap counts though. Just like you would with an aging pitcher in baseball. I'd limit his minutes, San Antonio Spurs with Tim Duncan style. Get him aching for minutes, frothing at the mouth, and then a game or two before playoffs unleash him for serious minutes to get his groove on. And in the playoffs, I'd empty his tank until he's begging for oxygen on the sidelines.

Freeney is a beast and had nothing but positive things to say all year last year. He was a stabilizing force and professional. He was one of our best defensive players and one of the only decent pass-rushers we had. I'd welcome him back with open arms, dude is a beast.

This has become trickier. If the Cards end up drafting another rusher, or someone like Bullard, there's no place for him on the roster. I'd take him because he's still the best insurance if someone gets hurt.

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2016/05/12/freeney-patiently-waits-for-cardinals-for-anywhere/

Appearing on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” today, free agent pass rusher Dwight Freeney said he definitely wants to play this season. Nothing is imminent in terms of signing — anywhere — although the veteran made clear “Arizona would be a great team.”

Freeney was highly complementary of the Cardinals, raving about their chances to contend even without being on the roster. He said he has had “some interest” on the market, but acknowledged that at this point, it’s wait-and-see for most teams.

In the meantime, the 36-year-old — who led the Cardinals with eight sacks last season despite playing just 11 games after signing late — said he will stay focused and keep training. Interestingly, he did add that he doesn’t really want to do what he did last season and sign in-season. He’d rather be there for training camp.
