Wish we were as proactive as Andy Reid..

Howard Eskin

I hear Eagles bringing in Bills FA left tackle demetrius Bell in this weekend. Top FA left tackle out there. Son of Karl Malone.

The Eagles announced left tackle Jason Peters ruptured his Achilles tendon in his right leg on Tuesday, March 27, while training in Texas. Surgery to repair the tendon is scheduled for April 2 in Philadelphia and will be performed by Dr. Steve Raikin of the Rothman Institute.

The Eagles also re-signed reserve offensive tackle King Dunlap today and Peters' injury may have precipitated it.

Looks like the Cards will sign Bell and then trade him to the Eagles for a second round pick. Or should we hold out for a number one?

Following from an Eagle fan:
There must be some chump out there that they can fleece. What does Arizona have at tackle?

Reid proactive? He's desperate!

He 'dream teamed' his way to 8-8 last season and we beat him.

Bell has gone from Buffalo to AZ, Washington, Green Bay and now to Pittsburgh and Philly: When do we start realizing that he may be no one's answer at left tackle?

Fantastic work Cards FO. Procrastinating always works out in the end. This dudes price tag just doubled.

Should have signed him the day we cut Levi.

Watch what happens now: Resign Keith. Levi at LT, BK at RT. The only "upgrade" to our line will be a single guard. Cards fully deserve all the ridicule theyve been getting for this terrible free agency period.

Actually, the fact that a team might be desperate now for Bell, does not make the Cardinals idiots Bodha...because the probable reason that Bell has not sign to this point was the fact nobody was going to pay him for what he was not worth with the injury issue. Because the Eagles are in crapville now does not make the Cards or anyone else to blame, it just means the Eagles are in trouble and Bell is going to get more than he deserves...the situation does not make Bell any better of a player

LT's are expensive. You cant expect to get a bargain for any of them. This recent Levi resigning, despite Levi being Levi, is an extremely good deal for us. Bell would be expensive, but considering hed be a solid starting LT, itd be worth it. He wouldnt be making nearly as much as Levi was making, so you have to view it as a gain financially. Also, that number you deem to be too high (when he visited with us) just doubled now that theres a competetive market for him.

So we dont have Bell. What now? we take bust-2-be Martin in the draft? Reiff will be gone. Maybe we reach on Adams at #13.

We are screwed now. Odds are we resign Keith and Levi is back at LT. A+ free agency.

Wow, you can look into your crystal ball and see that Martin will be a bust? I should have asked you for the winning Mega Millions numbers.

I heard the Eagles are also looking at Marcus McNeil. Bell has to have issues medically. LT's, especially when there are very few out there, just don't sit around on the open market all that long unless there are medical/ off field issues.

Buffalo, who knows him well, has passed on Bell. He had visits to AZ, GB, Washington, Pittsburgh and now Philly; all without a deal, and you think his market value has incrased? So much so, that Philly in desperate need for a left-T is now also talking to McNeil who has a serious neck issue. It seems that both you and Bell hae seriously overestimated present value.

Procrastination is a problem, no doubt, but no more than precipitious action.

The Bills pick 10th. Reiff is within their reach and they will definitely have Martin, if they wanted him. They are in a better position than we. Also, their overall line is much better. They can take an avg/below avg LT and still do well.

We, have an overall horrible line, and so LT play is critical to the little success we get out of the line.

Well, left to be seen, but I'm inclined to believe that the Cards made their decision at L-tackle the day they re-signed Levi to a 5 year deal.

This.

I'd be very suprised if we sign Bell at this point. The fact that about 5 teams have kicked the tires on him and he is still unsigned is rather telling. I think that we were being proactive during the Levi negotiations and the door closed when Levi re-signed.

I also think that BK has been a bit like Doucet in that it took him awhile to develop and he had bad luck with injuries. Hopefully this is the year that BK stays healthy and shows the improvement that Doucet has. Of course we would have to re-sign him. :D

We"ll hear hollers of outrage, but wouldn't be surprised that Keith could also be in the plan. I, for one, give him credit for battling through his nagging injuries. Wouldn't mind the team taking a flyer on Lirpa Sloof out of Baylor, late in the draft.

@brian_mcintyre: Demetrius Bell Leaves Philadelphia Without A Contract http://tinyurl.com/88ngpec #NFL #Eagles

@evansilva: Pretty clear Demetrius Bell is asking for too much money. Has visited #Eagles, #Steelers, #Packers, #Cardinals, #Redskins. Still jobless.
