Nice. I loved him at LSU. I loved Boldin watching a lot of FSU games when I lived in Florida too. I have really good feelings about him. He might end up being Boldin's replacement down the road if the contract mess doesn't work itself out.

Very nice glad we got Doucet signed and in camp on time, maybe he only signed a 3 year deal to try and save the cardinals some money so we can resign dansby :).

Only a 3 year deal, wonder why?

Third-round and later picks frequently sign three-year contracts. I would guess that this also has something to do with the CBA running out--though those players would still only be RFAs after that period.

Glad it got done fast. Welcome to the NFL Early Doucet.

The most interesting part of that report by Urban was this:

Dansby’s plight is not unusual. Of the 12 players given a franchise tag by teams this off-season, seven apparently will be playing under one-year deals having not signed extensions by Tuesday’s deadline.

Of the five that did sign extensions, two – defensive linemen Jared Allen and Corey Williams – were traded before receiving multi-year contracts.

So only 3 of 12 franchised players in the NFL signed new contracts with their teams. Very interesting. Seems some retrenchment by owners may be occurring. Good.

And 75% of those one year tender guys are not going to get a deal the likes of the ones their original teams were originally offering. For various reasons, over inflated value of oneself, injuries, not playing as well, other possible FA hitting the open market, draft conditions(especially LB's considering the 2009 draft is going to be choke full of LB talent and teams have shown in the past to not pay a lot on LB's and gamble on a rookies instead), and so on.

There goes the predicament of a holdout where Early is Late to camp.

I'm going to enjoy watching how he performs. I can't expect much, but quietly I guess I have high hopes for him.

If Breaston can progress like he may be able to, our WR core depth will be sick.

Our potential 5th, and 6th receivers might even be relatively pretty good.

And now there is 2. Get it done!

The Cards were second in the league of times they came out in a 4WR set. We'll probably see plenty of Doucet and Breaston on the field at the same time.

Does anyone suspect a wee little bit, deep down where it's not even a real worry yet, that the drafting of Doucette (sp?) may be in anticipation of not being able to re-sign Boldin?

Bah, I won't buy into it. Good job getting him signed now. Let's get the ball rolling on the rest.

As much as I hate to say it, I think it's a real possibility. And it really bothers me. Boldin is my fave player on the team, me and my two sons wear his jersey. Still, it may be tough to keep him...

Doucet was drafted and signed to replace BJ. Not Boldin.

You know. I didn't think about that until I read what you quoted above.

I must say. I REALLY like the sound of that.

Fitzgerald, Boldin, Doucet, Breaston as a 4WR set.

Nice.

Doucet couldn't replace Boldin. That is just ridiculous.

Joe, don't forget that next year's Free Agents are full of some high quality LB's as well.

A lot of "The Cardinals can't do anything right" guys should really read this and let it sink in. The Cardinals are not the only organization running into problems signing players. It seems because of the uncertainty of the cap situation players are really selling themselves to be more than they are, and it is up to the GM's to be extra careful how they spend their money.

NY Jets - I don't know what to say about that situation. Ridiculous.

Dallas Cowboys - They better win the SB this year because they are going to be in some SERIOUS fincial trouble down the road. Not to mention they are commiting the sin of out pricing your fan base.

Mama let that boy play some rock and roll, jazz is much too crazy, he can play it when he's old.....he's too young for the blues, he's still inside his first pair of shoes.....(he's so young)

Can anyone name this one hit wonder band?

Doucet will give Breaston the competition he needs to be on top of his game as the third receiver for the Cards. Competition at every position, that's what makes a winning team.

I think it is a real possibility too, that's why I mentioned it in my post.

I hope he stays.
