Doucet = the greatest one game wonder of all time? :p

Of all time? Do you know how many great receivers did not even contribute much early in their careers?

3 years and you are talking about an example for all time?

If it continues like that for many more years, sure, it sucks. Even in that case, it's the injuries that did it, not his skills, so there would be much better wonders to mention.

Part of being a "heck of a player" is being able to play hurt, and Early has yet to show that he can stay on the field with the natural bumps and bruises that professional football comes with. all the talent in the world doesn't do any good if you can't keep it on the field.

That isn't fair every one of his injuries has been legitimate, not just bumps and bruises. The guy isn't durable but it isn't like he is missing games with a hang nail.

It is what it is.

Either Early will eventually rebound or he'll become the next Wads or Kenny King.

We need to cover (& have covered) our downside by bringing in additional WR's, but the deal with Doucet is that we shouldn't give up on him prematurely or let him go for less than we should get for him (something the Cardinal FO has done too frequently in the past).

Where things might get a bit dicey would be if a logjam was created at the position because of progress made by other Cardinal WR's like Williams, Roberts, Komer or Sampson. Then we'll have to make some tough decisions.

How long do you keep paying 'the guy who's always in the training room'

'you can't make the club in the tub'

He isn't NFL ready. His body is shredding fast and makes me wonder if he used steroids in his past...as this is typical signs of use...the body starts shredding. His arms say yes he did.

John Lott = awesome strength coach.
Our players are a lot less hurt than in years prior to his arrival.
He needs to work on the o-line strength...they were puff cakes last year...too fat.

Exactly. That's life in the NFL. It isn't long before the guy, almost regardless of the talent level, who is constantly missing games is replaced.

I'm not saying that he hasn't had valid injuries, but a football season comes with valid injuries. Really good players find ways to play through them or get back on the field ahead of schedule. Adrian Wilson, Troy Polamalu, Wes Welker, ect...

Exactly. There's a difference between hurt and injured. Do people really think guys don't want to be out there? He needs to get healthy, but all his injuries have been legit.

Of course, according to Shane, injuries are just an excuse :p.

Bottom line is do you keep a guy who is only going to be able to go 7-10 games a season or find someone else who can give you 14-16 games a season with similar skills.

Early is the former.

Early has potential...but that's it. He hasn't proven he can even play in the NFL.
I'm ready to leave the Early train and I think the Cards are as well...enter his final year as a Cardinal unless he starts PLAYING on Sunday's.

3 years in.....

Can't make it through 16 games.

Has yet to catch over 30 balls during a season.

Last year he was front and center for the teams 3rd WR spot. He dropped passes, got hurt, and then got past in the depth chart by Andre Roberts.

So far Early has been a bust here in AZ, and with Roberts showing potential, any success Doucet has in this league, will not be in AZ.

25 years old, and getting slower by the injury. NFL = not for long.
