We are a good chunk of the way through 2023 fall training camp for Arizona State Sun Devils football and guys are beginning to stand out and/or separate themselves from their competition at their respective positions. Quarterback Drew Pyne is the most obvious example of this, as the Notre Dame transfer is beginning to command most of the first-team reps and is challenging the defense to play its best football. His weapons are no joke either, as we know, but some lesser-known names like Jake Smith and Kyson Brown are routine standouts. Defensively, Krew Jackson continues to command snaps, while Texas freshmen Montana Warren and CJ Fite are making strong arguments for some significant playing time. At the end of the day, the young talent for Arizona State Sun Devils football is looking tremendous and host Richie Bradshaw breaks them down and catches you up on fall practice on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Closing Camp T scrimmage today at 9AM. Will be interesting to see who stands out and if there are any clues on the starting QB situation.

Watching the youtube stuff, seems like the players have been having a great time up there. Kush said Camp T is worth about 2 wins per year. We'll see.

Here's Jalin Conyer's latest episode from Camp T. with some appearances by Dillingham and other players...

Another injury. Safety Montana Warren will reportedly be out for at least 6-8 weeks.

I was hoping Pyne would win out. Sorry to see this injury. I wonder if this opens the door a little for Rashada.

More reps at least, we'll see what he can do with it. I would be surprised if he passes up TB this early.

As for Pyne, how can a hamstring "tear" be minor? A tear sounds serious. A "strain" would be minor. Maybe that's what they mean.

Here's some good highlights of the Camp T Scrimmage, including a lot of footage of TB, Pyne, and Rashada. Rashada has the most clips and they said he completed 22/33 passes yesterday, most of the reps.

After watching this, my overreaction is, hell let's start Rashada. He is the only one who seems to be trying to get the ball down the field and hitting deep strikes. You can hear the fans saying, "I want him to start.." lol.

There is a telling clip of a pass to the sideline, looks like by TB. No zip at all on the ball and the defender easily gets to it and grabs it with one hand before dropping it. If that's what our opponents are going to see for sideline passes, there are going to be a lot of pick 6's, and the db's can overplay to the inside.

Hob Robino has been following all the practices and has TB ahead of Pyne, even before the injury.

Also says Alford will not be allowed to play this year by the NCAA, just like Jake Smith, so the safety position is really lacking in depth.

On the safety deal, Chris Edmonds who started last year can slide into Alford's role in the starting line up. I think he'll be pretty solid. The concern though is if we get any more injuries back there. We are starting 5 db's now in this new defense and Jordan Clark is projocted to start at nickel, but he can always play at safety as well if necessary. He's one of the captains and one of our best players on D.
