Am I the only one who would not draft Manziel in the first round? I think it's his legs that make him great and if he's using his legs very often in the NFL he's going to be injured early and often. Not to mention I think is a total douche bag.

I try to find reasons to say that Manziel is a crappy QB seeing as he is indeed such a douche, but every time I watch the him play, he's money (no pun intended). Kid is a very accurate passer everywhere on the field and seems to play his best when the game is on the line. His ability to scramble and pick up yards with his feet ought to be considered an asset and not a liability. At this moment, I can't see him dropping out of the first round.

I'm done trying to marginalize him as a player...he's damn good.

His family is already loaded. Don't think a $20 mil contract is going to change him one way or the other. If he could tone down the douchbaggery to the level of, say, Jay Cutler, I'd be fine with that.

Mommy and daddy have money what's going to happen when you give HIM big NFL money and the fame and bright lights that come with it. That's what has people worried plus he is small and guys like Wilson and brees are the exception not the rule but you also have to remember there both in very good situation dominate offensive lines good running backs and big time defenses. I don't see anything about Manziel that says team leader

No, don't get me wrong. I think he is an amazing college football player. I think he could be great in the NFL although I do suspect he would turn the ball over a lot. The problem is that I think what makes him special will get him killed in the NFL at his size. I would not take him in the first round.

A lot of people try to over analyze QB's but I think there's something to being the best player on the field in every game and dominating every game. In terms of going thru progressions and anticipating receivers getting open he's #2 to only Bridgewater. He's just so calm and clutch in the pocket but his legs get him on sportscenter.

I can see BA falling in love with his alpha-male/hyper-competitive attitude. I also think a locker room of veteran pros and not college teammates will help with him off the field (which was overblown anyway).

Hundley has improved his pocket presence this year so he's growing on me.

I still really like Hogan at Stanford but he's not coming out and he's got to break his long windup habit it slows his release down too far.

A guy who has sort of fallen on the radar some but still has NFL talent is David Fales at SJS. He's thrown 8 picks this year so people are sort of down on him but he doesn't have much of a run game and they aren't exactly stacked with NFL prospects at WR either.

If you were tell me a 3rd round or later QB in this next draft would wind up a solid starter in the NFL my money would be on Fales being the most likely guy.

Problem is we will win just enough to be out of the race for the best QBs. We need to do it the Colts way. Finish last and have your pick and get Andrew Luck. RGIII really looked as bad as I have ever seen him yesterday. I think Luck was clearly the class of the QBs last year. Running QB's like RG eventually get knocked crazy and I think RGIII is really taking a pounding but still has the courage to go out there and try.

Hogan has kind of a funky delivery -- like he shot puts the ball down the field

it works for Phillip Rivers, but.....

Yeah he winds up and then as you said kind of shot puts. I didn't see most of the Utah game but he clearly didn't play well and hasn't the last 2 games.

I still really like him but his mechanics need some work.

Thursday nights ESPN game has U of Miami vs. U North Carolina.

2 QBs of interest.

Stephen Morris of Miami (and his backup Ryan Williams.) Morris coming off of a bum ankle.

Bryn Renner of No. Car.

2 decent QBs who will get drafted this year. Williams next year. BTW Morris has a rocket arm. Haven't seen one stronger in years. He is Cutler like...., but he has no touch.

I call those the Pee Wee football windups. Bad habit when the arm is weak. They forget to evolve the motion.

yeah he has a good arm it's just bad mechanics and doesn't do it all the time. I said it last week he could use a summer spent working with Jeff Tedford, one thing he can really teach is how to hold the ball and be ready to throw, Rodgers is the prime example of that in the NFL now(Tedfords' teaching how to hold the ball).

Well, his teammates would run through a brick wall for him, by all accounts.

He was leading the prayer circle on the A&M sideline while they waited for the game-deciding FG...

maybe he was worshipping the dollar. :D

I haven't seen enough of Stephen Morris, and you've said buyer beware on him, but I like what I have seen so far. It seems like he has the arm, plays hurt, and has toughness. I just don't know how he reads defenses and if he's a guy who commands respect.

Just ran across this blurb on Manziel...

Speaking of Manziel, he shredded Alabama for 562 total yards and 42 points. In Bama's five other games, the Tide has allowed 26 points and 1,041 yards.

Oh, if I HAD to choose between Manziel and Mariota, I really do not know who I would pick. I'm not sure you can mess that choice up.

There is a lot to like about the kid from Clemson. I truly like the mobility he has in and around the pocket, AND the fact that he keeps his eyes down field even when on the move. He almost instinctively has the ability to step up, then to the side, to avoid the rush, without a lot of movement. Yet he is fleet when he decides to run out of trouble.

Yeah, I think Manziel is a real slime ball... but I'd totally take him at QB. The idea that smaller QB's can succeed should be thoroughly dead. Talent trumps size and Manziel oozes... frat party boose... dirty money... zits... and talent. As a long suffering fan I can over look the rest in exchange for the talent aspect.

And BTW, Tajh Boyd is no taller than Manziel.

I like Murray the kid from Georgia. Haven't seen much of the Pac12 guys so I'm not really qualified to evaluate the QB crop coming out.

Murray is a smart dude who is accurate and can throw the long ball and plays against SEC defenses every Saturday.
