Yeah, I think Manziel is a real slime ball... but I'd totally take him at QB. The idea that smaller QB's can succeed should be thoroughly dead. Talent trumps size and Manziel oozes... frat party boose... dirty money... zits... and talent. As a long suffering fan I can over look the rest in exchange for the talent aspect.

And BTW, Tajh Boyd is no taller than Manziel.

I agree

The more I watch of Meziel, the more I like him which means the Cards will never draft him. In fact, I'm not sure the Cards will roll the dice on a young stud QB before round 4 & usually those guys never amount to anything.

Been saying Marcus Mariota for a year now. People starting to catch on now. You see the way he throws the ball just 1 or 2 games and you its "ah-ha!". Happened for me by the third game of last year.

He is WAY better then Bridgewater. Just watch.

I'm with you. He has the potential to overtake Bridgewater by May. I do think this regime is dead set on finally finding a franchise QB and will do everything in their power to move up to get the guy they want in this loaded draft. It's now or never.

Really really hope so. There is nothing better as an NFL fan then a home grown franchise QB.

Not that I know what that feels like or anything :)

Oh, if I HAD to choose between Manziel and Mariota, I really do not know who I would pick. I'm not sure you can mess that choice up.

Mariotta 10 out of 10 times

better arm, better size and a game that translates a bit more directly to the NFL

They truly gave it a shot with Jake Plummer.

I would say moreso with Leinart then Plummer. Plummer was a 2nd round pick I believe. You may have taken homegrown more literal then I meant it though.

Go identify your guy and give up the farm to give him IMO. Give up 3 first rounders I dont care. Just be right :)

Faster and smarter too.

He is a more polished, better throwing Kaep. Without the tattoos!

And a built in nickname the Flyin Hawaiian.

The hard thing to figure on him is how good is he because Oregon's games are so spread out that he's hitting guys who are wide open. Very good runner but I tend to assume that will stop in the NFL, he'll run but not as much or he'll get hurt.

Has better mechanics than Hogan.

Pac 12 is loaded with QB's.

What odds does everyone have on us taking a QB in the first? I personally think they'd look like idiots if they pass on a top QB in this draft when we are desperately needing a guy to stabilize that position, plus this is a new regime. I hate the mocks that have us reaching for an OT and passing up the players we're discussing.

where are the Cardinals drafting?

if this team wins 7 games -- which isnt out of the question at all -- they are sitting at 14-18 (given strength of schedule) Likely looking at QBs with some warts in that area

I'm thinking you can't just sit there and hope. They'd have to move up.

Gotta believe Chip Kelly will be all over drafting Mariotta, even if it requires moving up. Might even toss in Vick in a deal.

Based on what? Have you watched Wilson play this year? He's not winning games with his arm but his feet have kept them afloat and I think they are winning mainly because of their defense and ground game(they're #2).

Look at how he's played against the 3 quality teams(SF/Hou/Ind) he's faced this year:

35/73 47.9% 476 yards(158/game) 3TD/3 INT, ave. QB rating of 64.1, avg QBR of 37.8.

He did have a decent game against the Titans last week but still only threw for 257 yards and 0 TD's.

Although they only scored 12 points, he lit up Carolina in week 1, probably his best career regular season game. It was his career high in regular season yardage and the only time he has passed for over 300 in the reg.season. But he has definitely struggled against quality defenses this year.

Wilson is completing over 60% of his passes, he has a 2-1 TD to INT ratio, a 92 QB rating, when they've needed him to make plays he has been able to make them. I'm not going to stress out about him not putting up great stats during a blowout win against the Niners, or that 28 points was not enough to beat the Colts, or that he did not light up the best past defense in the league (in another win) vs Texas. And he is doing it with a beat up offensive line and a bunch of really bad receivers.

Our cap situation is so effed up that between Palmer sucking and being expensive I can see them going into camp with a rookie and Stanton. If our sites are set on one guy we do or trade anything to get him. No settling on mid-rounders to draft a franchise QB.

Vick in on a one year deal and if they go on the roll it looks they are about to and take the East, they will have to give up a king ransom to move up. The would cost them at least two 1's and two 2's to move from the twenty to top 3.

I can also see Kelly having eyes for Sammy Watkins. Would be a great fit

for that offense.

Marcus Mariota is the most physically gifted QB I've ever seen in my life, and I saw Elway in college.

Honestly just watch the touch he puts on the ball. Its ridiculous. And he has a howitzer too. Exceptional Arm talent. And MAN can he run too. Glad he is getting the recognition he deserves. Theres a reason Manziel commited to Oregon and then decided he would rather play closer to home. Its Mariota.

But you need to watch Jameis Winston closer. Even more physically gifted then Mariota and read this article:

Again hell be a top 3 prospect ever when hes eligible. Love both these guys and would pass out should either be lucky enough to don Cardinal red.

He's the most physically gifted Oregon quarterback I've ever seen. He's on the same level athletically as a prospect like Ryan Tannehil with more polish.

Yep Winston so far is the best QB prospect I've seen this year. Great article by the way.

I didn't know Manziel had committed to Oregon initially I was sort of under the impression that they didn't really know how good Mariota was when he committed because he's from Hawaii but I guess not.
