Keeping Wheeler over Capi is perplexing. Somebody said Wheeler can play inside and out... but I don't think Wheeler has ever played OLB in a 3-4 which is basically a pass rusher for the most part. he had one decent year in Oakland which is why Miami gave him a big contract... hasn't been good since then

My guess is that he chews with his mouth open

JTS

in all seriousness I guess it's something like he struggles to learn defenses or something like that. If you look him up he played DE in college, hands on the ground pass rusher, so it's not a surprise he can rush the passer that's what he did in college, but to play OLB is an adjustment. Lots of guys make it but the ones who don't often simply can't adjust to "extra" reads a LB has to make that a DE doesn't.

Are you really complaining/worried that Cap Capi didn't make the roster?

I'm pretty sure he's an ILB. Concern might be:
1. Bucannon's health.
2. Dansby's age.
3. Reddick not ready to start.

Just the way I see it.

cardandcubfan, not necessarily true. We cut Alexander, a few years back, and he was great for Buffalo, last year. Kurt Warner was cut by GB and ............ .

32... but, carry on.

He plays inside and out and ST's.

If we're talking about Wheeler, then I'll agree. Remembering back to the Red & White Practice, I kept asking my son, "who is that dreaded demon screaming off the edge that keeps whooping our LT?" Turns out it was 57 Philip Wheeler. Then he proceeded to get hurt the next week in practice and they moved him mostly inside the rest of preseason.

Imo..CJ did nothing to really earn a spot. He's replacable and Williams and Ellington capable enough b/u's. If DJ goes down for any reason you might see him back here, or a trade made (we have plenty of picks). The Wheeler situation is that they are very thin at ILB. Reddick could also swing to the outside.

I will say that BASK has a much better feel for the roster than we do, and hope in time it will become clear. All I know is that Capi seemed to improve as the PS went on.

Kent Somers says the coaches weren't as high on him as us fans. My question to Kent, and other media guys, "What do you think?"
I started out more of a Bynes guy than a Capi fan. I still like Bynes but Capi kept doing the things you like to see in a young LB (sack-skill, anchors well, solid tackler filling the gap - & does so consistently from game to game). I'm less concerned about whether he played against the Ones, Twos or Threes. What counts for me is that "he did it" and, therefore can be trusted to keep doing it. (I felt similarly though a bit less-so about Bazzie).

I don't think we can go bad with Capi and Bazzie (& Bynes). They add backbone to our backups should we need them.

I'm not that sold on Wheeler. Could it be that he's better on special teams?

Is not about capi not making the team
Is about cutting him to make room for a mediocre 34 years old OLB
We do not have a mediocre 34 year old OLB on the roster. 32 yr old ILB yeah, OLB no. he is not OLB on our team.
