I remember one of the very first mocks someone did and they had the Cards taking a WR. My response was why would you take a player who, at best, will be your #2 WR? I don't think Floyd is a bad player but I don't think he's great either.
Another reason it doesn't make sense is that this past free agency was one of the best ever for WR's and what do the Cards do, bring in Chaz Schillens for a visit. It's a position they could have addressed if they needed to.
I said earlier, the one thing the Cards could do that would upset me is pass on Ingram if he's there. So I guess I should've counted on it. He is the prototype OLB for Horton's scheme and brings a missing element to the team. Plus, mainly, he's a better football player than Floyd.
I don't hate the Floyd pick but it's confusing as to why he was even in the discussion at 13. If you make the likely assumption that Fitz will still be great and demand the ball, Housler will step up and be a bigger part of the passing game, and Roberts/Doucet will continue on an upward trend then why bring in another guy to catch the ball when the touches are going to be limited.
I guess I should just be glad they didn't take Riley Reiff.
