So what? He has been money for 2 years solid and is an actual weapon who has MAJORLY contributed to victories with his onside kick ability and has had NUMEROUS game saving tackles preventing TD's with his special teams coverage.

He has more than made up for that one miss that didnt even cost us the game.

Rackers is a big reason why we have had winning seasons and even been in the playoffs the last two years whether you like it or not thats a fact.

Not his fault he hasent had a clutch kick in two years.
Rackers is a good kicker in every apsect except when you need him to win a game. History has shown he's completely unreliable in that situation. Personally i would rather havea guy who is OK at kickoffs and bad tackler but is dead on when it matters. Nobody remembers Adam Vinatiere for his tackles in the Super Bowl or playoffs. They know him because he was as money as could be when the game was on the line.

Ironic that Neil boomed the kickoff from the 45 yard line thru the uprights, but chokes on the 34-yarder with the game on the line. Count me worried about him going forward.

It is a fact that because of Rackets intangibles he has helped us win games we likely wouldn't have without him. How many kickers do you know that are as good as him at onside kicks? How many do you know that can drop it in the perfect dead spot thirty yards downfield allowing our guys to jump on it like an onside kick? How many do you know that have made a consistent amount of TD saving ST's tackles?

Listen I agree he should have made the kick that goes without saying. But hisbintangibles are a HUGE reason we have won many of our games and even been in this position. yet you would rather have a kicker who doesn't to that and is more reliable in the clutch even though that could happen once every two years? Seems kind of silly to me. Without those intngibles we could be an 8-8 team on the outside looking in.

What was Whiz's reaction on the sideline? I don't think I saw it during the game.

I remember how Whiz looked the last time Rackers choked before that.

Aparrently he was pissed with Fitz who caused the whole mess.

Rackers and the entire kick team were not ready, yhe coach had told them there was one more. This is why it had to be done in a rush

It was certainly an odd situation. The rest of the team was on the field trying to find Rackers. Count me as one that still believes in Rackers and his toughness.

Portland Oregon these days.
Whiz had called for them to let the clock click down to 7 seconds (or 3 was it ?), had told Rackers that, and he was still practicing.

Then Larry got excited and called the time out with 14 seconds left. No one was ready, and they had to rush onto the field. That's why Rackers was still putting on his helmit.

Larry apologized later -- in fact, he said that he has to go in this week and work hard, or Whiz will cut him after the post season.

Clutch kickers are a premium in this league. Look at Suisham and Keading today. Rackers is the least of our worries.

If anyone needs anymore reason to change their mind about having faith in Neil Rackers, if you watched the Chargers game, you shouldn't. Nate Kaeding, Chargers kicker who's been know to choke in the clutch, especially in the playoffs, just like Rackers had a splendid regular season and what happened today, when it was time to be clutch again? Complete and utter failure. You're either a pressure player or you're not and Rackers, much like Kaeding are utter failures in crunch time.

If this guy is brought back, I'll officially start to question Wiz's thinking, which so far, has been top notch as far as I'm concerned.

Remember how good Vanderjagt was for the Colts during the regular season? He only missed 2 regular season kicks his last season with Indy, then he missed in the playoff game against the Steelers and they didn't hesitate to get rid of him.

seems like once a kickers confidence is gone he's pretty much toast. I thought Neil reached that point a few seasons ago, but he has somewhat overcome it, except for needing to hit game winners

Maybe we can get Nate Kaeding or Shaun Suisham. According to this crowd, they will loose their jobs for missing in the post season.

They both should lose their jobs--and neither is a guy I want on the Cards(much like Rackers). Suisham lost his job earlier this season already--so he can't even get it done during the regular season.

San Diego's kicker came into the game having made 20 straight field goals and 27 out of his last 30, yet he missed 3 chip shots against the Jets. Any one of them keeps the game going. I doubt that CardsFan has ever kicked in a pressure packed situation like this was, or I should say, these were. Remember, Fitz also called an inopportune time-out while Rackers was in the middle of his pre-kick drill. Forced t he kick one play earlier than anyone had planned on.

You clearly didnt watch the game if you are calling a 58 yarder a "chipshot"

Name me a kicker you would sign to replace him? Also Rackers clearly isnt healthy. Per Urban he re aggravated the Groin in thethe Saints game which likely means he wasnt healthy in the GB game either.

In a van...down by the river.
Being a RAMS fan its none of my business but....i'm not sure how you can go into another season with this guy. Granted he's a strong legged, hard working, high effort ,high character guy, but the words "Anti-clutch" come to mind.
Just sayin.

Hey you never know. Some kicker might hurt his knee and get cut and we could pick him up.

Kind of ironic that Rackers hurt his knee and got cut by the Bengals and the Cards picked him up to replace Bill Grammatica who had the most famous knee injury ever by a kicker.

Everyone that defends Rackers has the same argument "name me a kicker to replace him"--thats the job of the scouts & coaches. The guy is 1 for 6 in his last 6 "clutch" situations...luckily we won one of those against Green Bay but those numbers suck.

If he wasn't healthy then the blame for that needs to go on the coaches, medical staff and Rackers himself...you don't put out a guy thats less than 100% during the most important part of the season, we should have just kept Nugent then run out a less than healthy kicker.
