ok, this rumor has been floating around. i've seen it over at phxsuns.net, espn, realgm....so take it for what its worth.

Suns trade:
Barbosa, JJax
Pacers trade:
Fred Jones

the ONLY ONLY way i see this happening is if:
1.) Pacers throw in a First Rounder
2.) We are SURE to sign Finley
3.) Payton is on his way for LLE
4.) we are dead sure that JJ is gone

I don't want to give up JJax, nor do I think the Suns. At least not for Fred Jones. We haven't signed Finley yet, and trading JJax wouldn't exactly help our depth at the wing position.

Oh yeah baby! Talk about a fast break weapon! Marion, Amare, Jones, all racing to the hoop with Nash figuring on who was going to jam it in! Oh yeah, BABY! :D

I agree. I don't think there's anything Fred Jones can do that JJax can't do better except for dunking.

If it was Barbosa for Jones i'd definitely consider it but JJax and Barbosa is too much IMO.

If I could find a thread for this it would be nice. I went to the sites listed but couldn't find anything.

One thing to consider is JJax is older, and ONLY 1 year left on contract. Whereas, this is another set of young legs. The guy played well in the playoffs, from what I read, which could be another factor since our managment seems to eye that instead of the regular season in the Bell and KT deals.

Let me preface I'm not good at working with the CAP. However, if the Suns acquired Jones, I don't see the Suns acquiring Finley. Jones might be better able to run with the Suns than Finley. Perhaps Scott Pollard might be part of the deal as well.

I could then see the Suns looking at Raja as a backup SG behind Jones and the Suns bringing Casey Jacobsen aboard as the third SG while Dijon develops.

I don't see how Jones and Finley fit together. I would love to have Finley in a Suns uniform but maybe the Suns know it is not going to happen.

Also I am not that high on Pollard since he left Sacramento, but he might be a useable big man the Suns need (if healthy).

this doesn't seem to make any sense. why do the suns want jones? he's the size of a back up point guard, which is great, but he doesn't play like one. hes a 2 trapped in a points body. so whats the sense in dealing away the one of them we already have (barbosa) just to get another one back? there must be more to it. im hoping foster.

For what it's worth, I remember the Suns loved Fred Jones when he was in the draft. Sometimes teams covet certain players on other teams (like Raja Bell and Steve Nash) and envision them in a different or enhanced role.

I guess what I'm saying, is that Jones might be a good fit for D'Antonni's system. I'm sure he has certain players he would love to have on the team.

I would love to see the Suns re-sign Hunter or acquire a 4/5 packaged in a trade with a player such as Jones.

By the way, I did not even have Jones on my radar.

I think Fred Jones has a lot of developing to do, but he will be a very good player. He's excited and I remember him being a very underrated defender. His jump shot is coming along as well. Long term, I'd love to have him. If we can add in Finley or Payton I'd be hugely in favor of this trade.

Anyone have some info on Fred Jones? Never seen him play.

What type of player is he? What current NBA player would you rate him too? Has he peaked potential wise?

I call BS.

Either Jim Jackson or Barbosa by himself is worth more than Fred Jones.

jones is the classic tweener. too small for two, and not a pure point. can score like an s.o.b. athletic. improving shooter. jjax is worth more but then jones has youth on his side, but jones would be an upgrade over barbosa.

fred jones is a 6'2" 2 guard. just looking at his stats with an extra year in the nba i would say he isnt worth barbosa. let alone jjax. i think this trade is junk and doesnt make sense.

Out of college he was definitely known as a shooter. He is very athletic as well, but is a tweener.

I think he has untapped potential.

The only player comparison I can readily think of to compare Jones to is Tony Delk, however, I think Jones is more athletic and has more upside.

He's been playing backup point for the Pacers. He put up some good numbers when given the minutes.

This is a BS trade rumor, though. The Pacers aren't going to make a 2-for-1 trade; they've got too many contracts on the roster as it is. If it was three or four guys for JJax and Barbosa I could see it, but not just Jones.

i was going to post this a couple hours ago myself, but i took a look at the salaries and it didn't even add up. the deal doesn't make sense either, but i've seen stranger things with respect to that (in the last week, no less)

I know that the Suns have been interested in Jones.

Like I said in the other thread, don't be surprised if James Jones is included somehow.

this rumor is from the same guy that says cotton comes to him in a dream and tells him suns prophecys.

he creates one of these threads a week, and unfortunatly people still believe him.

his name on the azcentral board is "paul", he goes by the name "duneric" on the espn boards and ive even seen him a few times on this one.

he took it a step further by posting it on numerous boards, hence if you go to each of the boards they say, "i saw it on this board"....(azcentral,espn,asfn,phxsun.net,realgm)

i wouldnt mind having him, he would be a great backup. he's a lot like Iguadola in my eyes, whom we missed out on in last years draft. JJax isnt going to be on this team long term, lets be honest here. And as far as barbosa, I'm a real fan of his. Him and TD are the nicest guys in the nba as far as im concerned. But i dont think barbosa fits for this team. he's too much of a slasher like marbury in my opinion.
