only 1 year???? doesn’t sound like Kugler has too much confidence in him if not for 2-3 years…
He hasn't earned more than a one year prove-it deal. How he plays in 2022 dictates his future. If he is the James Conner version of a guard this season,, he'll earn a nice contract somewhere.

Nah.
Maybe Hernandez requested a single year. That way he can show he is much better than he was at NY and can get a fat contract next year.
You might be right but I doubt it. I can’t think of any offensive lineman that signed a one-year prove it deal and then cashed in the next year.

If we don’t sign a guy that coach Kugler turned into a second round pick and knows very well to at least a three-year contract, then I think that speaks volumes on expectations from the team. We have to stop these one-year stopgap contracts. Especially on the offensive line which requires continuity and stability.

I thought your options in round 1 included a high chance to select a WR

Oh no. If they select anything other than Guard now some on this board will use it to go off about how signing Hernandez meant we passed up Zion or something...

Mark Glowinski was cut by the Seahawks. Played a year for the Colts. Proved he was actually good then signed a 3 year $18m extension.

It#s only 1 year because it's cheap and Hernandez wants the option to earn more next year. He doesn't want to be tied to a small multi year deal.
I don’t think the dude had people banging down his door. If Kugler was really high on him, we could’ve signed him for 3 years at a reasonable rate. We are replacing our RG every year. This needs to stop.
