If we had Kobe, they don't need Tracy McGrady....I would rather stick with Marion and JJ

Basically Joe asked if he was implying a sign and trade with Marion + JJ.

Gambo first said no, and said they could try and sign them if they let people like JJ walk (well not match a contract).

Then Joe pointed out JJ only makes like 2.5 million, and Gambo backtracked saying he might be right.

It went on forever.

Here are Gambos main points.....

1.) It is known in the league that Kobe and TMAC want to play together

2.) Phoenix is Kobe's #1 choice

3.) The suns have to then do whatever it takes short of trading Amare to get TMAC here.

I hate Gambo

Come on, slinslin, you're living in a dream world. Just yesterday you were confident that the Suns were about to make a trade for Pierce. The "negative attitude" comes from the Suns' situation, not from me.

Don't put words in my mouth, obviously I said "hoping" and I wasn't serious or sure about anything.

Get real you are saying Marion, JJ, top 5 pick isn't getting it done because Orlando wants a prospect with star potential.

If I said Marion, Joe Johnson , Maciej Lampe maybe you could complain but the Magic are getting a star, a 22 year old who has shown he can be a star already and a top 5 pick.

This is the first time I've EVER heard that TMac and Kobe have wanted to play together. And really, it doesn't mean anything. Money talks and bull*&% walks--as evidenced by Jason Kidd signing with New Jersey.

People in gossip media always say things like "It is known that" when what they're really doing is talking out of their ass. Gambo is playing his audience for fools.

#1 and #2 I don't believe, but I could live with #3. :D

Except everyone thinks he is the fool.

It is according to his "very reliable league source" who claims that most GMs talk about how they want to play together.

I agree that there's a chance of Orlando considering your trade if the Suns win the lottery for the #1 or #2 pick and there is someone that Orlando really, really wants.

But regarding Joe Johnson, you have to realize that you are probably his biggest fan in the entire world. No one thinks as highly of him as you do -- not on this board, not in Phoenix, and not among the league's general managers.

Elindholm can be pretty negative, but he is probably right. The only way a team unloads a superstar is for:

a. Another superstar

b. In order to clear some other horrendous contracts.

c. Several extremely promising younger players

d. Some very high draft picks

e. All of the above

Generally it needs to be E. This is why there are so few trades of superstars unless they are "forced" trades.

Maybe you should listen to more broadcasts of the other teams announcers , then you would hear them raving about Joe Johnson all the time.

Just because you think it is a fluke I bet you that a lot of GMs don't think that way when a 22year old puts up all nba first team numbers over 20 games.

Will Orlando's GM solicit opinions from the league's announcers if he decides to trade McGrady? I don't think that he will.

It is part of building a reputation and how GMs will look at a player you can bet on that.

JJ has gotten a lot of love since the trade and not only from the Suns or me.

Expect them to unload a bad contract (Howard or even Hill) and receive at least one prospect with true star potential.[/B]

Sorry Eric, but that is right up there with any offer they could dream to get from anyone else. Marion and JJ are both very desirable players and much more than that. On this board our tendency is to undervalue our players (and overvalue our draft picks).

JJ is VERY marketable, he has shown the "p-word" in a big way.

Besides McGrady has shown a history of back problems.

He's also shown a history of 40 point games along with those back problems...

Are you saying you don't want McGrady? Or at least, wouldn't trade Marion, JJ and our pick for him?

Since when?

This board is always up in arms about how Stoudemire isn't getting as much press as LeBron James is, or how Marion should have been an All-Star this year, or how Barbosa should be higher on the "hot rookies" list. It sure seems to me that the tendency is for this board to be higher on Suns players than the rest of the world is.

Isn't the Allstar Game 2006 supposed to be in Phoenix?

And here are your western conference allstars!

Starting at guard from the Phoenix Suns - Kobe Bryant!
Starting at guard also from the Phoenix Suns - Tracy McGrady!
Also from the Phoenix Suns starting at forward - Amare Stoudemire!

:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy:

C'mon E! You said that no one values JJ like he does. He's making the point that there are others--and there are. Other GM's listen to their own announcers on their games. Other GM's have noticed JJ--I guarantee that.

JJ is playing as good an all-around game as anyone in the league right now. He's doing it effortlessly, without seeming to break the team's continuity. He plays very good D. Other GM notice this stuff.

Okay, okay, fair enough. There are others.

I guess we're at the usual stage when discussing a trade proposal, which is that we can't argue about whether the other team would consider it unless the trade actually happens, which of course it won't, since no trade proposed on this board has ever happened. So I think we'll have to leave it at that.

Sure, everyone wants our players to get more recognition, but in most trade proposals, our players are undervalued. In the same way, we seem to overvalue draft picks in trade proposals.

They are both shooters and want the ball....too hard to keep both of them happy. I feel the Suns just need to get one of those players either Kobe or McGrady are a wash in my mind. Then get that coveted big man with the remaining money. Can't live in SlinSlin magical happy land where all the players end up in a Phoenix uniform. Its a little place I like to call reality
