I would do this in a heart beat no questions asked just for a ring. Just after all these years too see the Suns actually have another legit shot for the ring. I doubt it very much it would happen, but it's not imposible, to pull it off. T-Mac informs the Magic he will opt out and go somewhere else if the trade is not done. Suns give up a high number #1, Marion and JJ to a very bad team, that needs to go another direction. Suns sign Kobe to the max if possible. This team would be an instant contender.


Another key note to this is, Kobe and T-Mac were players courted by the Suns before they were drafted and I remember alot of praise going both ways from both sides before the draft. Kobe and T-Mac changing there surroundings and teaming up for a ring actually could happen.

What hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

TMac was thrown out of last nights game after he kicked the ball in the stands twice after a missed call.

Clear signs of frustation, combine that with TMac's comments earlier about questioning his desire after a 1-19 start or something and I think he would like to go somewhere else.

Actually here are some opinions from the ESPN , Magic board.

- McGrady is could be traded if they keep losing
- McGrady will be traded if he doesn't sign an extension
- McGrady has made it clear that Orlando better makes major improvements in the offseason

Does Orlando even have the capability to make major improvements in the offseason??

I don't see it.

Look at their roster. No caproom, Howard and Gooden the only assets that might get them something.

Howard won't get them anything good because of his age and contract.

I actually also picked up from some "Kobe Bryant" friends, that Kobe and TMac used to be great friends but family live etc had them parting ways somewhat.

Well anyway, this rumor will stay alive for the rest of the season anyway I think because there won't be much better to talk about.

Actually depending on the lottery, does anyone think that

Marion and our top pick for McGrady might be enough? Plus fillers probably depending on the draft pick status etc.

I know we are all a little down on Marion because he doesn't have a great year but neither has McGrady.

I am pretty sure that Orlando would take Marion, JJ, top 5 pick for McGrady if they are afraid of losing him next season and him refusing an extension.

But why start with such a big offer? Marion and top 5 pick might be enough especially if that pick is better than Orlando's.

I doubt it. The pick would have to be in the top two to have even a chance. So it means trading Howard or Okafor, Marion, and Jacobsen for a player who could opt out his contract the following year. The Suns would have to get the right to talk to T-Mac first to avoid the situation they had with Dice.

This kind of deal is not completely out of the question, but it would mean the Magic would have to be completely convinced that T-Mac would be leaving. He is their fanchise and the players they would be getting would not sell as many tickets.
