I don't think you could beat the books. However I do believe that HBO has done the best job they can to capture the greatness of the books.

Totally agree. I loved Reading the books, but love the tv show almost equally.

I Think HBO has done a really good job of staying honest and make a great serie. Looking forward to see how the next couple of seasons turn out as they have changed the chronological order from the books. I guessing in an effort to keep momentum through the rather uneventful book 4 used to put back the pieces after book 3 tosses the entire storyline up in the air.

BTW. I wouldn't call book 4 bad. It's just nowhere near being on par with the rest of the books. The general consensus is that book 3 is the best and book 4 is the worst. The other three are close and ratings are based on personal opinion. I would rate them in order: 3,5,1,2&4.

I have to say it was refreshing for someone to finally get what was coming to them versus all the people who have done horrid things and just got away with it.

it's just so good. the writing, the production, the overall arc that you just never know where it could go...it's a fantastic show.

From the reviewers, who've screened multiple episodes already, there seems to be a common theme:

This won't be a slow-burn season that builds to an amazing penultimate episode. Stuff is going to go down early and often.

And the creators have said that this season will start to deviate from the books more and more, so there is a chance the book readers will be as surprised as everyone else by some of the developments.

So yeah, I am excited.

Also, stay away from Rotten Tomatoes. They have brief descriptions of episodes already up and they are spoilery, even though they are meant to be generic synopses.

I mean one starts out say "In the frenzied aftermath of..." That kinda means something big happened on the previous episode, doesn't it?

Seriously! And only ten episodes. Grrr...

This show could have been so bad if just one or two parts of it weren't done right. Good thing they nailed it ALL.

Yeah, I knew going in that the structure wouldn't, couldn't, be the same. I'm going to love it, and love seeing reactions again :)

The Jamie / Bronn development is new , I think. I like it!! If these changes are the way the show is going, I think they are on the right track!

HOLY $#%@#$%@#. I didn't see that coming. At least not until the first "clearing of the throat". WOW. OMG. Two pieces of justice dolled out two weeks in a row. Oh happy day.

P.S. So, does this deviate from the books? If so how? Please respond with SPOILER tags please.

It was good. But not the best episode ever as I have seen said on FB a few times. Glad I don't have to see hi space on the screen anymore.

No spoiler really needed for this response. That scene is pretty darn faithful to the books.

That sucks! That's a couple people I know spoiled on different shows. I know a couple friends of mine were pissed after watching Agents of Shield because they had not seen Captain America yet.

Getting spoiled when not ready for it bites!

EW.com ruined it too. Put up pre-written articles the moment the episode started to air on the East Coast. (Btw, HBOGO lets you watch it when it airs on the east coast...if that helps avoid spoilers)

Here is my theory. Please keep in mind I have not read the books and from I understand they do change some details.

What I found peculiar about the episode after re-watching a scene was that Olenna was suspicious. Not only that they kept focusing on her reactions throughout the episode. Since her introduction she has been sort of un-phased by not only men but Joffrey since day one and the Lannisters. Almost as if she had something up her sleeve from the start.

Also, I thought it especially suspicious that she spoke to Sansa right before it happened and even mentioned how cruel it was to kill a man at his wedding. When I watched it again, it appears this was a message to Sansa. Why bring it up right at that moment? Why was she all touchy feely with Sansa right before the poisoning?

My theory is this. She handed Sansa the poison. When she talked about killing a man at the wedding it was a signal to Sansa. Olenna handed her the poison which Sansa in turn put into Joffrey's cup when she picked it up for Tyrion after Joffrey through it to the ground. I don't think she was going to do it at first...remember she tried to leave. However, when the cruelty continued....she snatched the opportunity when the cup fell to her.

I could be way off but that is how I think it happened.

My response:

I have read the books, but this is one area where I think the TV show could deviate from them without upsetting too much of what comes after (whodunit). So my response is totally about my feelings on the TV show and not on the book version...

I agree with you totally on Olenna. Remember last season, she quizzed Sansa on how cruel Joffrey could be, so there would be her motive, marrying into the royal bloodline but killing him off before he could harm his new bride.

I don't agree about Sansa, though. She's been shown on TV as being too timid, too weak to take part in something like that. I don't believe she is guilty, nor do I believe Olenna would trust her with such an important task.

But it would be really sweet to see a flashback of her participation at some point, so that we could see a Stark finally getting proper revenge.

it completely killed the entire episode for me. i was just waiting for it to happen.

Look, I get driving traffic to your site and having a talkback type of thing, but for criminey's sake, don't put the spoiler in the ******* title of the article. that was so completely messed up.

my question is was it the wine or the "pie". there was a big shot of the pie at one point...and it almost looked like it was moving. i couldn't figure that shot out.
