y'all go ahead and get it out...it sucks.... I hate it too... but we were playing against a very good team... we should have won it, but we didn't... no reason to hang any heads over this one.
the coach has a whole list of coaching points to work on this week though.

Exactly. If this game went another two quarters, we would have won easily. The difference was the Patriots showed up ready to play, in mid-season form. The Cardinals took the entire first half to shake off the rust. Hopefully, we shouldn't see any more slow starts like that.

DJ, Palmer, and Fitz looked awesome. Defense looked like crap. I really thought they could protect Williams but he gave up 2 scores and they didn't even try to give him help. Those are 1 on 1 isolated islands, giving him no help. That's idiotic. That's total ignorance.

Meh. We lost a game we should have won, but weird things happen week 1. Special teams have to get better, but we knew that. Defense struggled, but Bettcher is not a great coordinator. We are still a playoff team, but will need to get better if we want a shot at the Super Bowl. This is not the team that we will be in week 17.

Way too slow to account for Edelmann and adjust to what NE was doing with him. Poor snap was the reason the FG was missed. I don't blame Cat for that. Strange play calling on the last drive. Gresham was getting open early and they seem to have totally forgotten about him. Defense could not get NE off the field on almost any third and long. Some dumb penalties at the worse times. Overall the team seemed unprepared for what they should have expected to be a tough game. Anytime you go up against Belichik you better expect a tough game. This may have been a been a blessing in disguise. Let's hope it's a wake up call and we see a better effort all around next week. If you are going to lose a game better it's against a AFC opponent and not an NFC opponent. This loss hurts the least as it does not affect won/loss records that can cause the team to lose a playoff spot.

The problem is we have looked rusty since the first pre season game and continued into the first regular season game. When is this team going to "wake up?". We were outplayed by a good team that was missing extremely important key players while we were relatively at full strength and at home, this was an inexcusable loss and most of the media was questioning if the Pats were giving up this game by resting Gronk.

While this was the first game of the year, this was a game you needed to absolutely win if you have serious plans of going to the SB. Nothing that this team has shown me this year, through the pre-season and the first game, shows me they are capable of making a deep playoff push. Special teams is an absolute debacle, and this defense was seriously exposed big time. A lot of season left, but right now I am concerned. The only thing that will change this is stringing together some wins and beating some quality opponents.

Palmer played good enough but he didn't play great. He easily could have had a few picks tho with some bad decisions or off target throws.

Just like last year our ST sucks. Return coverage is terrible, our returns go nowhere and we have a punter who more often than not gives the opposing team lovely field position.

Our D played weak. Williams is a huge liability and Branch hurt us also. Neither should be on this roster IMHO.

Pats had 3 key players out. If Brady and Gronk were playing it could have easily been over by half time.

Play calling was puzzling at critical moments. Team not prepared and did not execute.

All around it was a mess despite a close game. I put this loss mostly on the coaches for having personnel in that can't handle their roles and for not having the team ready to play up to their capabilities.

I disagree dude. There's no blessing in disguise or wake up call. They've been talking about winning a SB. We should have won this game. It's a short season and games matter.

Hope Brandon Williams doesn't start for the rest of the season.

Remember the bold prediction thread I made out about Marqui Chrisitan taking Branch's spot? Yea, that might happen sooner rather than later.

The team at this point should be a well oiled machine....not a machine leaking oil.

Yup - and remember our weird "lapses" last year? Random games or quarters where they just didnt show up... ? This loss isn't the end of the world, but it was certainly one we should have won reasonably handily.

The addition of Chandler Jones was supposed to help take pressure off the rookie corner; that doesnt seem to be the case at all

Defense poo the bed period! How many missed tackles that let them convert time and time again, no way should this D be doing that and letting a backup Qb pick us apart. Should have easily been able to hold them to 14 or less, it's absolutely in the D!

Fitz gets my game ball. He showed up tonight. Palmer was below average. I was afraid that he would be so rusty not playing hardly at all in the preseason.

I just do not know why Bettcher did not blitz, and should have just sent Williams

But at least we know where the holes are but do we really want to wait ten games for the leak plug experience fluid to work with Williams or do we go out and get a CB... at this point, a sub par corner would be better than him

The D only gave up 23 points, not the end of the world. Our vaunted offense only scored 21, can't excuse that away by "horrible defense".

We still don't know what we are as a team. This is what happens when you take the preseason off. It will be awhile before we know whether we are true contenders or just another 9 or 10 win team.

Dude 23 points against a team that did not have Brady and Gronk. And how many critical 3rd and longs did this defense give up? Sure, they didn't hang 40 on us, but Brady probably would have.

And was awful in 3rd down defense, including several 3rd and longs.

I agree it's not the end of the world and its an aberration for this team to have such poor results in that category.

I wonder if it's work ethic that Harlan Miller doesn't have over Brandon Williams because I refuse to believe he's an overall worse CB.
