I agree with jbeecham on the snap. It would have been heroic, but a really solid holder could have adjusted and spotted better. Begs the question: Does our holder-snapper-kicker spend much practice time on "how to salvage blown plays" (If they don't they should).
Removing the "he figures out what his players do best" cliche to explain why Belichick's so smart, I think what he does is realistically and comprehensively review both teams and then figures out - what the Pats need to do to exploit an opponent's weaknesses and Pats matchup strengths to win specific games. Specifically, he had all the Pat ballcarriers running low, hard & with good leverage to blow our tacklers off the ball both in the open field and on the LOS. Our players weren't prepared to adjust their tackling techniques to handle this.
I think Bettcher and BA were overly "optimistic" in believing they could get away with B Wiliams playing man and a bit late in covering that weakness by playing more zone.
We're still a pretty good FB team, but I fear that "losing the close ones" will become an ingrained habit this season. (i.e. we won't truly be a good FB team until we prove on the field that we are).
