Give me ANYTHING, that convinces me that Kolb has more upside than Skelton

Many people here don't believe it but if Skelton were cut tomorrow there would be a feeding frenzy by other teams to sign him.
He has so much more potential than Kolb.

What are you basing this off of? You're basically stating this as fact. What are we supposed to believe and why?

Fact of the matter: Cardinals over paid for a career back up who will never come close to justifying his contract. The Cards management is 100% at fault, and there needs to be consequences for such stupidity. If a $63M QB is comparable to 2nd year backup QB from Fordham, something is terribly wrong....

$63 million AND a pro bowl CB AND a 2nd round draft pick. Kolb should look light years better than a 5th round pick from Fordham who has had hardly any reps this year. But he doesn't.

This game only told me that neither should be the starter next year.

This game emphasized yet again that our OLINE is a complete and utter disaster. You want evidence - the Rams are dead last by a large margin against the run (roughly a 160 yards per game and over 5 yards per carry) and we got 70 yards, 38 were by our QB.

There were numerous plays where the OTs were simply overwhelmed (ie Long sack and FF) or flat out whiffed (ie Quinn sack).

The Oline is one of the huge problems along with coaching. The playcalling continues to be attrocious

No one is drooling over Skelton sorry that is just nonsense! The guy did just enough not to lose a game for us and the D may have played their best game and of course our rookie CB actually won the game! Any one else say WTF when he fielded that punt on the 1 freaking yard line in OT only to realize in about 1'second that he was gonna break it?

Skelton is still a project, nobody can say for sure at this time how good or bad he will be...he does have some potential but by the same token we should see more promise from Kolb than we have seen, especially considering how long he has been in the league, what we gave up to get him and what he is being paid.

I am not buying the "new system, shortened training camp" thing, Dalton & Newton both came from anything BUT NFL style offenses and have shown more promise. If Kolb is lacking the ability to adjust to this system why on earth would you trade for him? That is the square peg in the round hole. Shouldn't a scout/coach be responsible for that?

Its a combination of players adjusting to the system and coaches adjusting the system to the players. Until a week ago, our coaches ADMITTED that they didn't do the latter.

Is some of Kolb's struggles his own doing? Of course.

Our problems go well beyond the Qb position even though people seem to just to focus on just that (to the point of just stupidity)

Quit throwing around the $63 million nonsense. He's guaranteed $21 million, he can be cut rather easily.

Regardless, he was signed to a pro-bowl QB type contract, and he's statistically and visually one of the worst starting QB's in the league. Graves and Whiz failed miserably on scouting Kolb for what he really is: an average QB that is lucky to have a starting job, but was given a contract as if he was Peyton Manning.

Even Skelton makes Kolb look like he should be a back-up, that's how bad he is.

Stop bringing up rookies who are doing ok in systems totally simplified and tailored to them because that is smart coaching something we severely lack in Az. Whiz refuses to adjust to players he just expects all his QBs to be able to do what Warner did (with Haley at OC by the way) I am convinced whizs' so called system is the worst offense in the NFL!

You are overlooking the "Suck for Luck" factor. PP21 fielded the punt at the one trying to give the Rams the game but the Rams outsmarted us and let Peterson run the punt back for a TD.

NFL contracts mean pretty much nothing as they aren't guaranteed. While it looks good for the agent, the truth is it doesn't mean anything

One thing for sure both Dalton & Newton have going for them, their head coaches are former defensive coordinators so I am guessing they don't meddle as much in their teams offense.

Skelton had no running game today. Beanie is not healthy. Skelton did fine all things considered.

Not sure why some feel the need to bash him.

I think Skelton did great considering that he hasn't seen the field in weeks. He was rusty and it showed. The safeties. I don't know. I don't see that happening again. He forgot what it was like to be running for your life. He pulled through though. That TD to Fitz, Kolb never makes in his wettest dreams. Did anybody see The NFC Playbook show? They showed how Kolb spreads his feet when he throws, making himself shorter. Thus the passes always getting batted down. Skelton on the other hand stands tall and passes over the line. Thus the TD to Fitz.

If anything, it was refreshing to see a guy step up in the pocket. How many times did he turn and run backwards into a defender? I think zero. Kolb, about what, 6 or 7 times a game?

Course there's more than just the 20 mil odd reasons that Kolb will remain our starting QB. Don't forget Fitz's 50 mil odd reasons to resign. After all, if we went into the season with Skelton as QB, do we still even have Fitz?

I'm not referring to that. I already proved my point in that one.

By linking a bunch of stuff that did nothing to refute my point about no one bidding on him once the bidding actually started.

Wow... rumors during the lockout. Too bad no one cared about actually acquiring him once they had the opportunity.

Ding ding ding. Skelton sucks. WTF was the OP watching? My guess is he had this thread typed out all week and was just waiting to hit return after the game.

WTF thread did you read?

I know it was "just the Rams" and I know he didn't play particularly well, I am not anointing Skelton as our Savior by any means.. But I fail to see anything in Kolb, that would lead me to believe he is better than Skelton.

If nothing else, it was nice to see a QB step up in the pocket, not run backwards 15 yards at the first sign of pressure.

You act like I made a thread that said "OMG, Skelton is the best ever.. He should be our starter for the next decade!!"

Forget comparing him to Skelton for a second.

After 7 weeks what can we say that Kolb does well?

He does not have a single strength to his game.

So you're refuting the rumors/reports that he pointed out as evidence with other rumors. Brilliant!!
