Going to Lindley doesn't look so stupid right now

Exactly, Lindley showed an NFL arm. He is fine as the 3rd QB next season who hopefully gets better, but there's no way you count on him as the starter OR the backup next season.

Yes. Now all we need is two QBs ahead of Lindley who are not on the roster IMO.

NO! NO! NO! Please don't get suckered into this again! This is what yielded us Skelton as the starter.

Agreed!!! Just like McClown, Stoney Case, Tupa, Hogeboom, Sacca, Lisch, McIvor, Mackey, etc.

QBs not drafted in rd 1 rarely turn into franchise QBs...quit trying to take the cheap way out!!! Trade for a proven vet or give up the picks if you can identify a guy who appears to be a stud QB.

Leinart and Kolb come to mind.

History says the chances are better when drafting a QB in rd 1 & preferably high. Look it up.

Just saying Leinart was a first round pick and Kolb was a trade.

Not for the Cardinals. :(

Namath. Pisarkiewicz. Stouffer. Rosenbach. Leinart.

Meanwhile we have our best success with two undrafted free agents.

We're the Cardinals. Weird is what we do.

Dude, did I say it's foolproof? No
Look up the Super Bowl winning QBs & look where they were drafted :mulli:

I'm just trying to point out the Cardinals tried to get a quality QB by doing it the right way. I'm not saying it worked. Actually the Cardinals might want to draft two QBs in the draft including one in the first round... or sign a veteran QB and draft a QB in the first round.

Actually didn't Dallas draft draft two QBs in the first round one season and neither amounted to much?

Yeah that Aikman dude sucked worse than Skelton & Steve Walsh was traded for another 1st round pick by trader Jimmy. :D

Yeah let's just keep hoping a 5th or 7th rounder turns into a HOF because we've missed 4-5 times. Keep dreaming!

Lets be honest fellow Texan, I knew the day the Cards drafted Pisarkiewicz & Stouffer they would be busts. 1 the owner went el cheapo so we lost him, one decided football wasn't for him & the other got gunshy & lost his mojo after 2 shoulder injuries.

Lindley is hands down the best qb on the roster, and I for one will be happy to ride or die with him. Draft someone in 1-3, but let him run the team until that pick develops..or until he owns the position.

Lindley looked fine..rookies throw picks. He looked fine otherwise.

My memory is a bit hazy. I guess no chance the Cardinals get the first pick in the draft. :)

Wow. This thread sure makes Russ look dumb. A little early for that victory lap, huh, bro?

And this stuff about Skelton "not being willing to do what it takes to get better" is pure hokum until I see it from a source that isn't Jaws making stabs in the dark on the Cards Radio Network. What you think is not the same as what is true.

Maybe we can all as Cardinals fans have our memories erased just like in the movie MIB:D It would erase a lot of heartache

Hey Russ, at least we've got some promise from Golden State. Harrison Barnes is quickly becoming my favorite young player.

I don't know he's ok but he's just not "it" for me. But he's young and he's been better than I expected.

What difference does it make who the #3 QB is? Especially when neither one of them is even remotely NFL talented. I do think there's a certain symmetry to Lindley's completion % so far this season is almost identical to his career completion % in college. 55.55 Cards 55.25 College.

Because if we're going to be any good next season we need 2 QB's on the roster better than Lindley. Right now we have 1, and he's injured.

Did you see that dreadful "off his back foot" pus filled crap ball that he threw out to a double covered Fitz?

I love it when people don't read the post and respond to the title. I said his first half he looked pretty good, much better than last week, and better than Skelton(as a rookie). There is NO point playing Skelton, he's terrible. He has played in 19 NFL games and he's still not at even 55%, in a short passing offense recently.

All his success this year has been in garbage time. Lindley's first half today was better than any first half Skelton had all season.

There is zero point in not playing Lindley so the decision to go to him doesn't look dumb. We weren't winning with Skelton and we didn't win with Lindley so why play Skelton?

Skelton is a terrible first quarter Qb, awful, whatever he does to get ready for games isn't working. I'm not at all surprised to hear someone say the Cards weren't thrilled with his work to get better, and hearing that they split reps with them prior to last weeks game sort of reinforces that.

You have two kids with big arms, one of them has thrown almost 600 passes in the NFL and looks terrible, 2 TD's this year in about 180 attempts. The other is a rookie, you go with the rookie.

Stop making sense.

I wouldn't even have Skelton on the Cards roster next year, add a veteran who can step in if/when Kolb gets hurt if we can't make a trade for Romo or Rivers. We are very limited in our options in 2013 even if Wiz is fired.

I read the whole thread before I replied. You decided to take a victory lap right before Ryan Lindley went into the tank in a huge way. Nicely done. Lindley "feasted" with short throws against prevent defenses in the first half--just like you assert that Skelton did/does. The Rams turned up the heat once they saw what Lindley was doing, and he quickly turned into Max Hall--another guy you defended until it was beyond clear was garbage.

Good work on these two.

And now you're backtracking so hard that you're saying, "All I meant was that Lindley is secure as the #3 QB in the NFL after this performance." Whatever, Russ.

Missing a TD with a 10-point lead = Getting benched.
Throwing 4 INTs = Coach's confidence, because you called a timeout when the playclock was running down.

If you're ready to move on from Skelton because you've decided that you've seen enough, fine. But don't make the argument that Lindley gives us a better chance to win football games. I look forward to hearing you admit this in two or three weeks when it becomes impossible to argue otherwise.

Ryan Lindley is garbage. If you're happing losing the next 2 or three MORE football games so that you can confirm that, go ahead. Skelton still gives us the best chance to win.

I'm more interested in winning football games. Still.

Did you note anywhere in the recent threads or multiple articles that he was a ROOKIE??
