Okay, you guys are weirding me out. I am finding myself going to nfl.com stats page to try to find bright spots for Arizona's defense...

We had a bad couple of weeks, made worse by us actually thinking we might be good this year.

By weds we are usually recovered some

Historicly, we're not too good against the chiefs. I can only think of 2 wins, one under Plummer in 2001 and another back in 1986 when our pathetic team upset KC 26-14. IIRC, Bill Kenney didn't start that game(who did Blackledge?), but did come in and get the Chiefs' 2 TDs late in the game.

Welcome to AZ. Bring plenty of that legendary KC barbecue (along with some Jay McShann, Count Basie and Bennie Moten CD's).

Back on topic: What differences do you see in the coaching style and philosophy of Herm Edwards compared to Dick Vermeil?

Soooooo any team news to share? ANy injurys? concerns? I just cant believe that with the talent you guys have on offense that you cant get it going. This is the first time I have visited a board and have not been told that my team was gonna get their tails whooped. Rise up Card fans. Stand tall! It could be worse. You could be Raider fans! (BUt the Raider situation does make me very happy). There are good memories out there. Like...Dan Dierdof! WHat a guy! ANd dont forget the game a few years ago when you knocked Minnesota out of the play offs. You are the oldest team in the league. (And no Im not talking players age). You have a long history! ANd besides I picked the Cards to be the sleeper and klick some butt this year. And Im rarely wrong! Just ask my Chiefs Huddle buddies about that.

Dick Vermeil was a nice guy who was loyal to his people he had in the past. He was offensive minded. His loyalty could not be questioned. A couple years ago he was forced tro let our Defensive Coordinater go. ANd he was forced to take in Gunther Cunningham. Dick didnt like to do it. Gunther came in and Vermeil hand cuffed him by not allowing him to jump the other Defensive coaches. Or make decisions.

In comes Herm. First thing he does is get the key to the hand cuffs. and turns Gunther loose. ANd that is whats happining with the Defense.

THe offense should be okay. When Trent went down the whole city held their collective breath. Huard is doing better then anyone expected. Things are improving but we are not there yet. Give us one season then I think we will reallytake off.

It's the offensive line. We all thought that even a slight upgrade in play from that unit would mean great things for the offense, and while the team didn't bring in any significant personnel uprades in the offseason, we did hire an experienced line coach (something we didn't have last year). We all sorta thought that might be enough to give us even a slight threat of a run game with Edge, which would really open things up for Boldin and Fitz.

Well, that hasn't materialized. So, doom and gloom abounds.

Our OL sucks

you know its bad when a "miscommunication" between the C and G leads to forgetting to block the DT, which led to Leinart's fumble as he turned back to hand the ball off.

The other, 48-0 in your place a couple of years ago where we looked like a high school team.

Oh my lawd aj, did ya have to bring that game up?? The Bono run was preposterous, but that 48-0 game made me embarrassed to be seen in public with my gear on that day. Otherwise good luck to your boys this week hailgunther, just not enough to get the W. I actually have a good friend who is a "Chefs" fan. I'll have to place a lil wager with him on the game.

Welcome Chief fans. I find I don't hate your team as much as most. Hmmmm....must because you wear red or something.

Anyway, can you please let us beat you?

Thanks in advance,
Redheart

Welcome to the board.

Originally I thought this game would be an easy win for the Cardinals. However after KC destroyed the 49ers and the Cardinals have fallen appart the last three weeks I think this game could easily go either way.

Really it comes down to the trenches. Which OL/DL can win the battle. Not a good sign for the Cardinals.

Okay I am going to come out and say it since no on else will. We are going to beat the Chiefs this week and the Leinart mania will begin this Sunday (of course everyone will come tumbling back down to reality once he gets hurt against Chicago - but thats for another day)

Damon Huard is not going to beat us at home. Whether they admit it or not the team is fired up (especially Edge) about the change in fortune a QB who protects the ball and throws it away will have on the team. I like our ability to contain LJ to under 100 yards and I think we will be in max protect much of the game so we can let our rookie have time for our recievers to get open. If you guys think i am a Kool-aid drinker (which of course i am) look to my thread entitled " I expect a Blow-out this Sunday" last week in which i predicted the Falcons would win 28 -10.

But this week is different. We play better at home (If cheesebeef would have been playing QB and protected the ball better than Warner we would have won that game against St. Louis and they are 3-1) and hopefully a week of this embarassing talk has led to guys coming out fired up. I fully expect Leinart to be + 10 points are way and -7 for the other team due to turnovers. I see us winning 28 - 24. Plus the crowd should be good with the golden boy playing. Maybe i have too much faith in Leinart but i don't expect us to get embarassed. And i think the Chiefs have spent the last week reading their own press clippings after that win against SF.

Besides the one advantage everyteam has had over us so far is in game coaching. Unfortunately for all his strengths - Herman Edwards = Denny Green in that area. So while i am not sure we can block anybody i expect us to play fairly well and win a nail biter. For some reason we just execute SO much better at home and that will be the difference.

This is all based on the assumption that the team has not given up. This is possible after reading some of the quotes - but i hope our guys have more pride than that. So since this is what you were expecting when you came to this site -

Get ready for an a$$ whupping.......:D

You aren't the only one confused

in don't understand the confusion here - we had the 2nd worst O-line in football in last year and in the offseason upgraded it by singing ONE guy, from the WORST O-line in football last year.

where's the confusion? you can't run the ball if you can't blovk and you can't throw the ball if there's no blocking.

that bono run looked like it was in slow motion. turns out, bono was just that slow.

Worst.

Play.

Ever.

That and the 78 yard sprint by Adrian Murrell when he was on the Jets to lead them to their only win that season. 1-15 with their only win against the Cards.

Welcome to our world.

We are going to get so smoked.

I have several confusions Chessie.
  1. We did upgrade 1 position
  2. We hopefully have a better OL coach
  3. We have better depth
But right now our offence should be at least as good, if not a little better than last year. Instead we appear to be worse.

Remember when we first started pursuing Milford Brown we were told he was a backup? Suddenly he's a starter and that's considered an upgrade? To be honest I think he's been better than I expected, it's just that Step is hopeless, Wells stinks, RT's have all struggled and Big is the only guy playing like a good NFL starter and even he has had his moments.

I hope this is a matter of guys having to adjust to a new coach or something because if it's not this season is going to be maddening, all the talent on offense completely useless because of the OL?

Yeah good question. We finished what 10th in the NFL in both O and D last year??? According to Jurecki ( he said he spoke to a couple of NFL scouts from opposing teams) the book is out on how to stop the Cards offense. Jam the WR's at the line and throw everything but the kitchen sink at Warner and knock his jock off. Then he will get rattled and disoriented and turn the ball over. By jamming them and blitzing them Warner won't have time to find other receivers. Also they can stack the box that way and stop the run. Words to that effect anyway.

who was the "upgrade"? the guy who came from a line that was WORST THAN OURS?

and how many times haver we heard the tired "we have a new (inster position here) coach" rallyign cry only to see that position more often than not still land flat on it's face?

and how do we have better depth? We have rookies and a rookie last year who apprently was almost cut this year - oh yeah, and a couple of waiver wire pickups and trades for guys who were being demoted and about to be cut from their respective teams.

Milford Brown was going to be a back up to whom.....Elton Brown? No, he was brought in to be a run oriented RG from the get go.....and I am very unimpressed with his performance so far.

Wells is an athletic G in a O-Line surrounded by big and slow linemates. I believe that he would shine in an O-Line scheme best suited to smaller linemen. He's out of the water here. His only hope is as a C with us.......even though some think he could be effective as a LT....me I just don't know.

My ideal line right now would look like this:

O.Ross at LT; BIG at LG; Wells at Center; Latui at RG; and Gorin at RT.

I think you missed my point Cheese.

The issue isn't if or how much of an upgrade Brown is. He was supposed to be a good run blocker but that is beside the point.

The issue is why is our offence worse than last year ? So far much worse
