been in the valley since 65 and up until 2 years ago we called that a
DUST STORM

Been here over 30 years & feel the same way. It wasn't a haboob until 2011 when we had the really big one.

I looked it up..... Haboob is indeed an arab terrorist,.... in Arabic, it means ....well,....dust storm..........
the page I looked at stated the term "Haboob" is not widely used in north America,...the term Dust Storm, or Sand Storm, is more readily accepted....

I think Gee is just jumping on a band wagon and trying to be trendy...................... this is the type of thing that happens when one forsakes the team they love for nearly an entire off season,...............

The national broadcast wires (July 11 at about 8 am ET) are reporting that a new one of these haboob thingies has cropped up just outside of Phoenix. Stay safe, folks.

didnt see a thing, its overblown anyway. All it means is you should go inside for 10 minutes until the dust blows over.
