Air Raid Warning!
Haley seems as ambivalent about the Cardinals job as Chip Kelly did about Cleveland and Philadelphia. That tells me he's reluctant to give up a plum job in his hometown for a very challenging offensive situation here.
It seemed inevitable all along---
We know that MB loves Haley...
We know that no offensive coach has pushed Fitz more and gotten more out of Fitz than Haley...
If what MJ reported about Ray Horton's choices for OC and DC is accurate---that assembly of a staff would be tough to sell to an SEC school. Not kidding. Not that Kirby Wilson and Lou Spanos are bad coaches---they are both immensely unproven, and neither has any NFL experience as a coordinator.
Plus, how many RB coaches become OCs?
Moreover---with MB barking about holding onto Kevin Kolb---how does Horton sell his HC candidacy when he wants to hire an OC who has no experience with QBs?
Sorry, Ray, but C'MON MAN.
The good news is---there's no way Horton gets a HC job elsewhere because there is no way he can sell that staff.
Haley didn't want to be a token interview.
Haley wanted to be taken seriously.
Now he's coming to interview.
It, imo, is a lock.
Haley fits the criteria that MB wants.
He brings an edge...and apparently, with advice from Bill Parcells, an improved level of maturity.
Todd Haley---
No matter what---it will be very interesting---
And I like that he had the KC experience, for good and for bad---which, imo, makes him better qualified than all these intriguing, but seemingly not really ready OCs.
There sure is a lot of opinions on Haley-seems mostly bad. I really have none. How do you people get such strong opinions on these potential coaches? I watch all the games and read all the stuff on the net and I cannot come up with a strong opinion on anyone. In a court of law they would call this "hearsay". It would seem you need to know a lot about a guy before hiring him and judging him. I can see where guys like Mitch, Jurecki, etc might have a lot of inside info and actually know these people so I put some stock into their opinions. Certainly more than mine. I also read all your opinions and thoughts but I remain just an on looker with nothing much to form a strong yes or no on anyone. I cannot call any of these candidates jerks or failures. Some former statistical failures end up winning Superbowl with new teams. Nick Saban was a failure at Miami and now a three time National Champion. I still think the GM is the most important hire if the Bidwills give him full GM authority. I also think hiring the new GM first was a very important decision if he is to be a real GM. Good luck to us all. We embark upon a new journey. Every once in a while I do feel I have some good information like on Tyler Wilson. I have watched all his games, listened to him speak off camera. listened to his friends and our local sports guys talk about him so do have somewhat of an opinion that might be worth reading.
2011 - 20.3ppg (Big Ben 15 games)
2012 - 21.0ppg (Big Ben 13 games)
So they actually scored more with 2 less games from their starter...
Do some research son.
And last year their offensive line was a ruin while this year it was far healthier. And Ben may have only missed 2 games last year but he played injured and poorly as a result in several.
Their offense this season was worse than last year. Less passing yards, less rushing yards, less yards per pass, less yards per carry (where they were among the worst in football), way less 1st downs. Them scoring a couple more points on the year does not impress when the team as a whole was significantly worse at simply moving the ball.
What impresses me about Haley is he knows how to run the ball---he's not just a passing game guru.
I didn't see this and just posted something similar in a new thread. It seemed inevitable all along---

Steelers had the 26th ranked rushing game in the league. 28th in yards per carry. Both significantly worse ranks than pre-Haley.
No kidding. And we don't have a Jamaal Charles
lol,m well that takes care of my concerns. Let's go get himwe do have a Fozzy Whitaker
Todd Haley will one day I think be a good HC, hopefully he learned a lot, you all do know he's married to Parcells daughter right?
Well Keim is now the decider- And He knows nothing but Cardinals since 1999! I have to give him the benefit of the doubt because I have no choice in the matter. My fan dollars are appropiated to Cardinal.
I wish we would look at Jim tressel at HC, Norv Turner or see if Marty Schottenheimer is up for it! If you want coach interview feedback interview schottenheimer- He'll rock Bidwill's world! I mean our biggest problems under Whisenhunt was self imposed- We were like a manuere spredder going across the field kicking the crap out of ourselves.
Yea Gruden, Mcoy and Horton are sexy picks- but give me an experienced old school HC- Most games are decided by turnovers, penalties or game and time management. I remember Whiz's mis management and he kind of grew out of some of it- but couldn't live with a lead with out throwing every down! We lost so many leads to stupidity regardless of opponents. Yea lets throw 50 times in rookies first start!
We have talent on the team, Most the high priced ex steeler busts are now history- Whiz really reminded me of Buddy Ryan wanting personnell control and once he got it- kissed frogs that never turned into princes- and showed little interest in promising players like Larry Centers as Buddy Walked off the field while Centers was still diggin for yards with time on the clock.
So thank the football Gods for all that they gave us, all that they left us and all they have taken away. now don't experiment get a seasoned HC for the young GM. Rob Ryan would care as HC- I think he is brilliant and never doubt his pedigree- The man is experienced and passionate about NFL football.
